Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.
Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

Wanted to try this for years but rarely see it. Unlike most other reviews on here I find it to be a lovely sipper. Niceand warm on the throat with a full mouth of burnt toffee, pecan, orange and creamy butterscotch. Very enjoyable will become a regular now I know where to purchase it. Looking forward to trying it in a dark and stormy.
As described "Voni jako lucni kviti a chutna jako rana pesti." :-)
Appearance: dark amber
Aroma: Molasses
Taste: Sweet then bitter
Flavor: medium strength molasses
Texture/Body: medium
Finish: long, sweet, bitter, wood
Way too much molasses and caramel and no real depth to speak of. As generic as rum can get. Fine in a coke here and there.
Dark and strong molasses flavor. Hint of burnt caramel but not in a bad way.
This is a must for any rum collection, a number of cocktails use this
A pretty decent rum for a mixer but far too strong and not well balanced for a sipping rum. It does it's job well for a cocktail but very lackluster taste when left on it's own.
Especially good as a 'float' on Rum Runners and Piña Coladas. A truly outstanding dark rum!
I was introduced to Myers by my sea-loving rum-loving brother back in the 70's. It has been my go-to rum ever since. My preference is the way it was first served to me - Myers and Tonic with lime. I'm a bit older now and have modified it with diet tonic but still love it. My brother moved on to the high-end Anniversario Rum but I have stayed vigilant.
The rum is 50% inviting and 50% telling you to watch out!.
"Initially it is all caramel and burnt toffee almost like black treacle. As the aroma develops that rich Jamaican aroma also makes an entrance amongst the dense treacle."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Still tasty, but not the same as many other darks with more to offer. Fine for most mixing, but I would always choose another given a choice.
