Jamaica | Dark | 40% ABV

Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.

Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

I cant say I liked anything about this rum, but I also cant say anything bad about it either. Not my first choice but a decent all around rum. I drank this on ice and it went down like water.

I don't know what to say about this. It's a truly strange experience. It just tastes really weird. It doesn't taste like it was made how rum is normally made. It feels like there's an extra step, like maybe they slipped in some cola flavouring or something. It's definitely something to do with trying to make it dark. In trying to make this a dark rum they've fiddled with it and it just doesn't taste great. You've got to mix it and it does well in a zombie.

El Dorado 8 is my other all-time favorite. This is a bit more sweet. So, not quite as good to mix with Coca-Cola unless twist of lime. Perfect for pineapple juice. Love it!

Es un ron fuerte, golpeador. Pero bueno para mezclar con cocacola.
Nada extraordinario, lo mejor es que lo compré por $12.

This rum does not taste like any other rum. I like it particularly right after a hot afternoon adventure. Their unique flavor has really grown on me and I prefer it over mass production brands.

I have found this is a cheap tasting dark rum. Drank it tonight with coke and found it to be less than enjoyable.

Myer's Original Dark is horrible. It was given to me by a friend who considers himself a rhum collector. Horrible. Burns wicked and bitter on the tongue. Because my friend gave me this 'gift' after he opened it and tasted it i suspect he would agreee with my assessment that this is not worth spending money on. Considered throwing this down the drain but i will keep it as my secret weapon to give to guests who have overstayed their time. Yuck!!

I like dark, sweet rums, but too much of a good thing is a bad thing. If I would desperately need a Cuba libre and there was no other rum available than this one... Well, what can one do! But to choose it, not really!

Works great as intended - a dark rum in tiki cocktails, or perhaps a dark as stormy, by not good for much else. Nothing standing out, but really nothing to fault - works perfectly for what I believe it's designed for.
