Please input the URL directly to the vendor page with the rum for sale and we will automatically show it on RumRatings
Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.
Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

Smoother than other widely distributed dark rums- I much prefer Myer's to Gostling's. I find the alcohol is more subdued on the finish and the depth of flavor more complex. It is my go-to for floats and mixed drinks.
No this rum isn’t a sipper but hell you got to have this on hand for making tiki cocktails a true must have
Classic and must have for any bar. Great floater on Mai Tai's
Open that big, brown, square bottle and sniff up the molasses, over cooked prunes and burnt sugar. You probably love it even though you don’t know that you do.... or why.
Have a sip.
Bitter, hollow, blackstrap and burnt brown sugar.
What about with some lime and Ginger beer?
Now THAT is a dark and stormy!
Delicious and addictive. You
And in a Mai Tai......?
You get the picture.
The perfect floater, strong molasses smell and taste, and oddly enough I love it mixed with Coke. Very dark and screams put me in a fruity drink. Straight or on the rocks.... Not so much. It's a classic and and is best enjoyed mixed. Jamaican friends say that it is also perfect for cooking.
Great for mixing: nice flavor, some funk, not too sweet. Works great in a Trader Vic's planter's punch: a good amount of flavor, but doesn't overpower the drink. The one annoying thing is that recently, most stores that carry it seem to only have it in plastic bottles
When I want a dark rum and ginger this is the stuff. Squeeze in a lime and enjoy. Blame the Hard Rock in Vegas for getting me hooked.
Incredibly sweet taste with lots of molasses flavour.
I was introduced to Meyers via cola. A friend drinks this combo all the time. Wonderful with cola. I find it now, after drinking other rums - a bit (tiny) harsh, but a very good rum none the less. Just ordered one this last weekend!
The rum is 50% inviting and 50% telling you to watch out!.
"Initially it is all caramel and burnt toffee almost like black treacle. As the aroma develops that rich Jamaican aroma also makes an entrance amongst the dense treacle."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Surprisingly not bad!

40% ABV. Years ago I used this for baking only, but recently I had the opportunity to actually try it neat. It’s better than I was expecting. It’s youthful, “dark”-tasting, with notes of caramel and a pleasant Jamaican funk underlying it all. It's also not as sweet as Coruba, which could be a pro or a con depending on what you're looking for.
As ubiquitous as this is, it's really not bad, and I'd be satisfied using this in Planter's Punches.
