I found this as a small liquor store in Thomasville, Georgia which just goes to show that it pays to check out liquor stores in the small cities and towns one visits. I never saw this before and figured to take a chance. I am glad I did. It was the only bottle on the shelf and according to the tab attached to the bottle it is a limited edition. Subsequent online research reveals it is now being sold at collector's prices some going as much as 5 times original price. I paid original, not collector's, price.

I find the bottle attractive harkening back to the old shipping days where bottles for ships were short and squat to prevent tippage in rolling conditions.

I really cannot describe the aroma adequately except to say I like it. And the flavor is outstanding. Somewhat sweet with hints of toffee, caramel, and vanilla as well as some oak. Definitely smooth. No sudden burn but a rapidly developing warmth that coats the throat nicely and slowly fades. And as it slowly fades it leaves a nice spicy aftertaste with reminders of the oak. Definitely a sipping rum.

What a great rum in a unique bottle. I hear itโ€™s not available anymore. I really enjoyed this one as a sipper with one cube. Much more complex than original dark. Wish I had bought a bottle to stash away.

When this was available, bought up every bottle that I came across! Save breaking open a bottle for very special occasions. Much smoother on the palate than Myers Original, with a rich aftertaste, it should be illegal to mix this with anything. Drink it straight up or on the rocks. And if you come across a bottle for sale & donโ€™t want it...please let me know! ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

Unfortunately, you cant get this rum anymore as it is out of production! Fortunately, for me, I was able to pick up the lone bottle at a small liquor store in Connecticut about 18 years ago for $40. Now, if you can find it it will set you back about $400!
Nice representation of a dark rum with all the fine notes associated with a darker rum. Vanilla, cinnamon, toasted marshmallow and caramel/ toffee.
I love the bottle style...

Was lucky enough to have a glass with an old friend and it's mind boggling how complex this is. The charring just swirls and swirls and damn is it good.

Don't confuse this with several of the modern 'sipping' rums that are being produced today. This is a dark rum that lets you know that it's there and it gives you a slap in the mouth! It's great! It is a well aged version of Myer's dark that has aged quite well in fact. The nose of baking spices and toffee are exquisite. On the palate you will find more of the same along with notes of vanilla and tobacco. The finish is where the harshness hits and it slaps you in the mouth with a long, lingering burn and the pleasant burnt toffee and caramel. Overall, this is a good rum and I'm glad that I picked this up about 6yrs or so ago to add to my rum collection. At less than $50 at the time stores were running low. Now prices are running up to 5x that in the collectors market. If you find yourself able to grab a bottle for retail or a sample at a rum bar, do so.

I enjoyed this but found it to have a have a harsher finish than others.

I was lucky enough to find one of these before they mostly disappeared, its a smoother richer sippable older brother to Myers's Dark rum. Excellent complex rum with loads of dark flavors - leather, tobacco, orange, and more with a dry finish that goes on for weeks.
