Nice rum, distinct vanilla and caramel taste. Slightly bitter if I remember well. There is always something I can't recognize that can't me love this rum.
J'ai mis une note de 7.5, mais c'est à cause que je le prend avec du cola au du perrier. Bon rhum qui a un gout de bois du baril.
I have seen some negative ratings for this rum in a few places; I have to say, I was surprised.
This is some tasty stuff!!
If it wasn't for the finish which is really dry and slightly bitter and tends to linger longer then i would prefer; this would be an 8 or 9.
This is what rum should taste like! A quite affordable sipper that's not sweet, yet retains a fruity quality. The rum against which all rum should be measured!
edited to add sugar test results- 0g
Picked it up on an airport deal. Was very disappointed. Not even good enough for a evening sipping rum. Used it as a mixer. Too bad, nice bottle, nice color.
nez doux, caramel
Rhum équilibré avec des notes de fruits murs, banane séchée
The epitome of Barbados rums, generally viewed as one of the best in the world. Complex, rich, spicy, NO added sugar - everything a great aged rum should be.
I surprisingly didn't enjoy my first tasting of Mount Gay Extra Old Rum. It came through very spicy with a long and tart finish. There wasn't the smoothness I typically associate with aged rums, but moreso a bite typical to gold rums. For now I'm sticking with 4/10 until further review.
Not a bad rum with very appealing smell but been a bit dissapointed by after taste, let it breath before drinking as it gets better
English style, probably the oldest known rum destillery worldwide (1703)
Nose: Seems to be much sweeter than later on the tongue.
Palate: pretty harsh and sharp, with little volume. Not lasting long.

This rum have been described by many as the perfect start for a newbies journey into rum. I have never tried it before, but wanted to see if this statement rings true.
Nose: Orange, prunes, oak, chocolate and vanilla
Taste: Sugar cane, honey, oak, molasses and a small hint of ripe banana hiding in the back
Overall: I must admit that the statement rings true, that this is a great rum for people, who want to begin their rum journey. Especially people who come from other spirits will find pleasure in this one as it is not overly sweet. However if you are completely new to spirits it might be a little harsh and bottles like Plantation XO and Zacapa 23 might be more up your alley, but none the less a great starter rum.
Realy nice Rum
Mild an not too sweet.
Dry but not too much Wood.
Good nose.
Overall a Solid 8/10 (more a 8,5)
(1. December 2019 i 1423)
A bit too sweet for my taste. Definitely not worth the price of a second go around. There was the semblance of quality but it just eluded me. For $50, I can find better quality in any decent store.
Spicy start, hints of vanilla - but well balanced and a long aftertaste
Au nez on a un rhum complexe
Un peu plus limité à la dégustation.
Arriere gout assez fort.
CAUTION!! If I had based on the ratings of this rum on the site, I would never have tried it.
We can't just rely on other people's opinions, especially when they don't have good taste.
This is the best rum in price range so far!!!
Nose: molasses, oak, vanilla and cinnamon.
Palate: no sweet, oaky, oily and incredibly smooth.
It has absolutely no smell or taste of alcohol.
One of the best rum I have ever tasted in my life. Amazing!!
Look I’m not a HUGE fan of Barbados rum but I can’t rate on personal likes or dislikes , this is a very good rum and well worth picking up a bottle, I enjoy it a a mixer for sure
It took some time until I was able to appriciate this one. On the nose you can smell o lot of wood and smoke. First sip is a bit sharp but after that you can recognize hints of vanilla, nuts and oak with smoky tones. Great dry rum if you want to try something else than sweet rums.
This is not a bad rum, but not for me. If you like the sweeter rums this is not for you. Also to dry for my taste.
Great one !! I was very much impressed by it ! Sweet yet dry. Spicy yet not too much !! Great one for 47$ CA. A little less burn than the el dorado 12 say !
I found this rum somewhat harsh and did not enjoy it as a stand alone sipper, Descent on the rocks or as a mixer if you are so inclined.
Great tasting rum, caramel, vanilla, oak, love the viscosity on this one, supper buttery and oily in the finish. Even though is 43% it still super smooth and easy to enjoy. This is a fantastic spirit, one my favorites so far.
This used to be much, much better - Now it is ok, and enjoyable. Bourbon cask offers vanilla (natural kind - not added essence), molasses, dried fruit, a bit creamy in character. Delivers - with no additives. I cannot help think it is filtered and blended a bit too much.
