Dry, but without the vegetal slap of most agricoles. Here in Canada it’s woefully overpriced so I’d warn off it unless you’re an agricole hound... if you DO like agricole it’s really quite nice without being a standout. Will not overpower your mai tais our 3 dots and a dashes.
I liked this tasty Rhum Agricole this from smell to taste and aroma. The aftertaste was very much like a grappa
Bought a bottle of Karukera Vieux while vacationing in Guadeloupe. Very cheap and low end bottle and label design. Golden color. Traditional super dry Rhum Agricole flavors are complemented with grass, citrus fruits, floral bouquet, vanilla, oak and spices to the nose and palate. Strong and dry burn at the end. Rhum Agricole fans boys can easily add 2 points to my score.
This rhum vieux is produced by a large distiller that caters to huge tour buses and enjoys widespread recognition as a premium brand on Basse Terre. The quality of this rhum is good, the oaky characteristics that tend to be expressed by the aging process are not quite present, and allow the rhum to just sit there as a mellow old guy who digs Werther's candies and readily hands them out to kids.
Which is not to say those kids are suckers. But you might want something more exciting.
Very young, indeed. But, if one likes Agricole, not the worst addition to one's collection. Very nice sipping rum.
