I find this a very enjoyable rum. I like to add just a couple drops of water and then sit back and enjoy my evening. I can recommend this rum.

Have high expectations from this rum. on the nose i find it very nice some sweet notes and vanilla tones. but on the palate is too sweet I'm not sure if they added sugar or something else but I find this rum extremely sweet.
On a side note they mentioned the rum is created using agricole technique, similar to the rhum agricole from the french speaking islands, but honestly I didn't feel anything related to this style of rum.
Probably will be a good mixer, I will updated later once I have done that.

I have been to Blackbeard's castle and took the rum tour. Which I would advise any of you to do if you are a rum fan. I was looking for this rum but unfortunately I never found it in any stores in the Caribbean. I tried it and enjoyed the smooth taste that it had without a lot of the burn. you can drink this either as a cocktail or like I did straight for a dessert on many occasions until my bottle ran out. I am looking forward to buying my next bottle and enjoying it just as much as this one.

Woohoo gooood. Like a dreamwrapped in sex. This is probably one of the happiest rums I've put in me. Like heaven was made of caramel, brown sugar, and black women.

I really enjoyed this rum. Not as good as some of the top black rums I've tried, such as the Kraken, Punta Cana Black, or the Lemon Hart Blackpool Spiced, but it's definitely better than most black rums I've tried.
It has a nice sweetness to it, which I enjoy. Smells and tastes of chocolate, vanilla, spice, charred oak, and marshmallow.
Not a bad rum at all, though at this price point ($29.99, 2018 price), I'd go with the Kraken, which is slightly better (to me) and a bit less expensive.

Subtle bouquet of vanilla. Get hints if vanilla on the front end and chocolate on the back end. Also get a very subtle hunk of oak that enhances the flavor.
A wonderful sipper; been lurking on these boards for a long time, but this one was so good I signed up just to say so.

I had a high expectation on the Vizcaya Black Rum after liking their VXOP 21 for years, but this one is a long ways from the 8 rating I granted for the more matured one. Vizcaya Black Rum is a very mediocre rum in isolation, but compared to the older sibling, it is very unmature and has an over powering sweetness to it plus a burn at the end which the 21 year does not have. Mix this one with Coke, and it's okay, but still not great.

Aged from 12-21 years in charred oak barrels, this is an awesome dark rum. Notes of toasted marshmallow, burnt sugar, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee and honey affords this as being a great rum to make Mai Tai's and also to be enjoyed neat. Vizcaya is a premium rum producer from the Dominican Republic.

Outstandin' Sipper 9 out of 10

Avast this be an outstandin' black rum! Aye, there be blacker rums, but few as good. This rum smells sweet, but not overly so, with vanilla, burned marshmallow, and a wee bit of caramel. Toasty smelling goodness! As taste goes, she be a little on the sweet side. Just enough to not be "dry". There be milk chocolate on board, a wee bit of caramel from before, spices, and wood. Not oak. Wood. Bright and earthy wood. She be smooth with barely any burn. This rum be affordably priced and worth every doubloon. May I drink a bowl of brimstone and fire with the Devil if I not be tellin' the truth!
