Mount Gay Eclipse rum is produced from molasses that is double distilled and aged up to 2 years in white Kentucky oak ex bourbon barrels.
Mount Gay is the oldest existing rum brand in the world, with it's oldest surviving deed being from 1703. The company developed the use of traditional double copper pot stills, a process that has been in continuous use by Mount Gay ever since its founding. The company's namesake Sir John Gay Alleyne was a good friend of John Sober who purchased the then Mount Gilboa distilleries in 1747.

Alkohol: 40 %
Původ: Barbados
Aroma: Vůně je suchá, nevýrazná, s vanilkou a hřebíčkem. Lihová, nevyzrálá, snad ještě zaznamenávám citrusy. (72 b)
Citrusy, nakyslost, suchost, dřevnatost a seno. (72 b)
Body: 72/100
To v Božkově umějí z náhražek udělat lepší pití.
This rum is an under-achiever. It's only mediocre, with no remarkable qualities to speak of. Regardless of what it costs where you live, you can find something better for the same price. There is nothing offensive about it, unless you're offended by blandness.
I was a bit disappointed when i first tasted this one but have found that it´s good in cocktails.
Let's be honest, it's a very cheap rum, but as a mixer it's actually decent for what it is
This is a good rum for cocktails without any flaws but it won't stand out too much. Often a good value but not something to seek out. ...
Decently smooth, with a good taste. As it is also fairly affordable, it makes a great mixer and go-to "gold" rum.

Quite sickly sweet smell.
"When sipped the rum does not exhibit much of these sickly sweet flavours. It’s just very heavy on the alcohol. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Just smooth enough!

This is another Barbados rum that is worth the money. It's not too sweet, and it is just smooth enough to enjoy on the rocks. Makes a great drink mixed with Vernor's ginger ale.
