Many thanks to Joola69 for sharing this with me as part of a rare rum tasting (I can't get this in the US).
Smells and tastes of molasses, light spice, orange, and oak. Very lightly sweet. Not a bad rum at all.
I can't decide where to put this one or what is so great about it. It has a more sweeter taste than its 12y old brother, which means it reveals more honey flavors. At the same time it is definitely no sweet rum (although molasses made), since there is a lot oak aroma happening.
Rum tasting with my good old buddy in Amsterdam during the global lockdown continued onwards with Arehucas 18y. Very nice and unique bottle and label design. Bright golden color. Vanilla, orange and mild oak to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Super short and nondescript ending. Good but far from great.
Elegant with not too much sweetness. Balanced in the taste that stays in your mouth for a long time. A bottle I will definitely buy again. Enjoyed it with a monte christo and the cigar did very well with the rum.
Elegant, mahogany-colored with a powerful nature. Dense and intense aroma of sugar cane, spices, caramel and vanilla. The rum matured in oak barrels for 18 years, in the cellar vaults of Arehucas on the Canary Islands. Nice small bulbous bottle.
