Santos Dumont XO Elixir

Very sweet, warm taste, coconut, chocolate, raisins. Not so bad, it's drinkable, but definitely not for sipping for whole evening.

Wow, this is quite something. Being an elixir, I was prepared for sweetness but not that much of it!
For a millisecond, you get some citrusy taste, then the sugar hits you together with an almost artificially strong coconut flavor. I should emphasize that the sugar REALLY hits you. There is so much sugar! Besides that, you can also notice spice and pepper but barely, since it is drowning in SUGAR. The aftertaste is quite long for an elixir.
Oh, and did I say that sugar is added to this rum? Anyways, the smell is exactly what you'd imagine based on the taste - sweet, coconut, vanilla. There's also some funky smell in the back...
I'm torn on this one - what score do I give this? If you take just one sip, it is quite interesting, and I enjoy the coconut and spice combination. After that, it just gets overwhelming with the sweetness and is not enjoyable at all, revolting frankly. For taking just one sip, I'd say 7.5/10 if you like very sweet elixirs. Overall though, I'll settle on a higher 4/10. For real, this is promising but did they just rob a sugar factory or what?!

This is the only Santos I will keep in the collection, but only for my wife. It's such a glue that I can't swallow it anymore, and I don't understand that it has 40% alcohol. Guys don't really drink this, but it has a charm and a woman deserves it and the price is decent too ...

Tohle je jediný ze Santosů, co asi budu držet ve sbírce, ale jen kvůli manželce. Je to takové lepidlo, že už to nedokážu polknout, a nechápu, že to má 40% alkoholu. Tohle chlapi opravdu nepijí, ale kouzlo to má a žena si to zaslouží a cena taky slušná...

Tried it from the advent calendar but is one that I found a nice surprise.
Sweet but also full of flavor, not with the gingerbread hint of others.
Definitely not for anyone that doesn't like a sweet rum, but one of the better ones.

vůně: Marcipán, karamel, kokos, sherry.
chuť: Cukrová bomba, výrazný kokos, meruňka, marcipán. Lehce ostřejší (40%)

Meget sød, smager mest af orange og lidt valnød...

Depends on your taste, but this is either a great or terrible rum. Sweetest Riise I have had.

I have tasted a bottle some time ago. It is quite brutally sweet (yet still strong with about 40%) maybe even for elixir fans. But the taste is really good - just beware of getting drunk too early as it is no >30% material :) P.S. I think SD Palmira is +- same quality and less sweety. Plus the bottle is very solid built and awesome shaped (though exactly the same as Gold of Mauritius)
