I wasn't expecting to like this rum as much as I do because of the low price of only $39.99 (Total Wines & More 2017) and because I'm usually not a big fan of bourbon aged rums. However this also has cognac aging, which I find works better with rum than bourbon or just bourbon alone.

Smells and tastes of molasses, spice, cognac, oak, and bourbon. Nicely sweet for a bourbon aged rum.

I like this more than many more expensive rums I've tried. I give it a 9 and highly recommend it for the money! My score does NOT factor in the price.

Same owner as Plantation so most likely being shipped back to France, aged, and dosed. If that’s you’re thing, great. But you should know what you’re buying.

Smells like rotten bananas, really fruity when tasting. Not for me but I can see why people would like it.

It’s smooth and has that underlying plantation flavor but stops there. I’d rather pay more and get the Plantation XO.

It’s okay for sipping but has a flavor I’m unsure of, would not buy again.

I needed to pick up a Panama rum to round off my current offering. That up front sweet caught me off guard but the flavors and smoothness on the back end were decent. It’s not a bad buy for that $30-$40 range.

Kaniche comes from the same French company that bottles Plantation rum (Ferrand). The packaging is great and the rum itself has a nice amber hue. It’s smooth and tasty, but I noticed the sweetness comes through even in a cocktail, so I would keep that in mind when mixing with other ingredients. Perfeccion doesn’t have a lot of depth, but it still tasted good and worth a try….

You are sitting in front of a crackling fire on Christmas Eve, it's quiet and everyone is asleep, and you are trying to decide which rum goes with the moment. This is that rum. Smooth as a gentle snowfall and with all of the flavors that you relate to the season. Cinamon and spices, but without the sweetness. I am not sure that it is a year around sipper, but it might be.

Vanilla and Jamaican funk on the nose. Serious funk. But man, is this smooth! It slithers across the pallet imparting vanilla, bananna, spice, oak and cinnamon in perfect balance. Thin but belies this with fullness and depth of flavor. Really nice in the middle. Warm and lingering finish that brings back the funk and leaves your tongue with clove, and oak notes too. Not sure about perfection, but damn nice for sure. Easy sipper. Full of flavor and just the right bite. Definitely one of my favorite Barbados rums. Very reasonably priced. In fact, a steal at $35. I give it an 8.5.

Shared with friends without telling them what they were drinking. A couple thought it was a cognac. Smooth, a little sweet. I prefer straight up (no ice).

Such a good rum amd gets an extra bottle for the price! This is my favorite company for great rum that is shockingly cheap and some how is always in stock. It's like a best kept secret that no one knows about. So shhh don't tell anyone else.

Good value for the price point. Would try the higher end bottle.
