Enjoyed a bottle of 10y Mocambo while vacationing in Tokyo. Very nice and unique bottle and label design. Dark mahogany color. Pure alcohol and plenty of oak to the nose and palate when neat sipped. Strong and dry burn at the end. Definitely better than older Mocambo rums, but still pretty awful liquid.
Nice caramel aroma, taste very complex with wooden, chery and bourbon tones not sweet. Average aftertaste.
OK as a mixer but thats about it, i would not have it straight
Il faut dire que le Mexique est pas le meilleur pays pour le rhum. Une senteur de caramel unique en son genre. Son gout très très boisé et épicé unique en son genre. On sent et goûte un peu le tabac. Un peu amer vers la fin.
Sugar 0-5 GPL.
Having just returned from Mexico, I would have to say that if you had a choice between this and Tequila, pick the Tequila. While this smells like rum and has a dark colour I am not sure it's from aging in barrels. It tastes burnt. Harsh nose and harsher taste. The bitter wood and burnt coffee tastes are predominant. I didn't like it, but others might. Go ahead and taste it, but you will want to mix it with something.
