I went to the distillery in Nassau and did the tour with tasting afterwards which I enjoyed. I found the "Single Barrel" rum enjoyable and does make a good sipping beverage although the aftertaste is strong and I can see how it could put off amateur drinkers. It is exspensive in relation to other nations alcohol prices but everything is exspensive in Nassau. I can definitely say the "Single Barrel" is one of the better small Caribbean distilery rums ive had.
At 132 proof this will hit hard, strong whisky/ agricole taste. Good to knock out a drunk amateur, even with ice
Visited Nassau last year with a colleague of mine and we wondered to the John Watling's Distillery by accident. It is the only distillery in Nassau and the distillery tour itself is definitely worth the effort. At the end of the tour there is a tasting of their 3 main rums and the Single Barrel for a small extra fee. The Single Barrel rum would be just okay rum for $30, but with the price gauging for the tourists, this one needs to be skipped. The Single Barrel rum is not bad rum perse, but the heart of the problem is with the price-quality ratio.
