Got a second version 19y 2001 - 2020
Oh yes, the nose suggests a typical Fiji rum like you will love it.
Plastic in the air and vegetables (pickled tomatoes, very dominant). There is also some petroleum in the nose, which I enjoy very much. Pickled tomatoes are not that rotten like in younger releases (I like it). The taste became mild in this additional year (it losts almost 1%). If you love Fiji rum, you must buy it, my recommendation for Fiji rum lovers. This is the best Fiji rum I've had so far.

Nose: vegetables (pickled tomatoes)**, plastic***, salt **, petrolium**, some honey*, white oak/earth **, gum* and pepper
Taste initial: great start, pepper, plastic, pickled tomatoes, salt, honey
Middle: honey, salted melon, petroleum, pepper, pickled tomatoes, plastic
Finish (long and mild): pepper, vegetables again, oak, honey, just keep it in your mouth, the interplay of flavors will last forever
Aftertaste: firmint, pepper with slightly vegetables and plastic (love it)
The aftertaste is still there after you drunk another rum, it lasts for 1h or longer.

For Fiji rum lovers it's clearly a 10. The 19y is a damn good Fiji rum. It's mildness is great and very enjoyable. 92 points.

Old version: 18y 2001 - 2019
It tastes like a typical and natural Fiji rum. I can smell the petroleum and tomatoes a typical fiji note for me.
It's complex with typical aromas. The tannins are present, it's definitely old.

Nose: petroleum, fermented vegetables (tomatoes), plastic, salt, some bacon, white oak/vanilla, gum
Taste: plastic, medicine, fruits (canned vegetables),
Middle: salted fruits, bitterness (tanins), white oak, petroleum
Finish: spice, citrus with salt and tanins, white oak
Nice aftertaste with salted fruits and tanins, peppermint

Sweetness: 1.5/5
Fruit: 3/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Mildness: 3.5/5
Value (49€): 4/5
Got a new bottle (65€ but 18y): 4/5

South Pacific Distillery 2001
The Rum Cask
Distilled: 2001
Bottled: 2016
Aged 15 Years
59.3%
Pot Still Rum
Country of origin: Fiji

Color: Gold

Nose:
Intensive and bold, exotic with a sweet fruitiness.
Pears, overripe bananas and plum juice.
Quite a lot of olive oil with a whiff of caramel and smoke in the background.
Complex and tasty!

Taste:
Powerful and bold, fruity, complex and very spicy.
Spices include pepper and aniseed. Then there is smoked beer, olive oil and varnish.
I must admit that I find the taste to be slightly unpleasant.

Finish:
Long and dry with herbal and black tea aromas.

Summary:
Very interesting and complex rum. Unfortunately I find the taste to slightly unpleasant, otherwise I would have rated it even higher.

The bad news is you can't find it anymore.
There are some similitudes to some jamaican rums = "dirty", plastic, olive, briny, say "heavy" ... but it is still a bit different, this is not a jamaican copying. More complex and changing I would say. A very good surprise to me.
Caution - forget it if you are into sweetened rons, this is something completely different.
