It has a bit of the Bacardi smell which did not appeal to me at first but the taste is light. Not spiced but rather simple rum taste with a bit of a little something I can’t describe. Not bad all together.
Light body. Buttery mouth feel. Smooth overall. Not bad for a new distillery!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Having had a bottle of Kill Devil's unaged white rum several years ago, I was quite excited to open a bottle of their lightly aged Gold release.
In the glass it is a very light gold. The nose is of new make unaged corn distillate, banana, and very slightly bready. In the mouth it's fairly thin and tastes of bread, banana, raw sugar, vanilla, and clove. The finish is very smooth, fairly short, and leaves a lingering taste of caramel.
All in all, a decent young rum. It's pleasant and easy drinking, if somewhat forgettable, neat. I think it would do well in a simple daiquiri, mai tai, or mojito. It may be overpowered in a dark & stormy or rum Manhattan. Definitely worth a try. I look forward to a true anejo release.
