ORIGIN: Trinidad

Fresh zingy coconut and tobacco leaf notes with some roasted oak and citrus undertones. On the palate, notes of lemongrass, capsicum and fresh black proper. These roll into a light spicy flavour with Honey and oak on the finish.
NOTES: Sharp smell. Taste very pure with pleasant undertones. one of the best high Quality pure rums.

light column still rum. Age - ten years. Single distillery rum. Unsweetened, uncolored and lightly filtered. 46 alc/vol. Sounds tempting, is not it?? In fact it really is - this rum turn very good. Tobacco leat notes and oak with sweet citrus take place. Aroma was very weak but the taste was OK. In general, this trinidadian was better than Plantation 2007 for exaple. Good rum!

Official tasting note....Fresh zingy coconut and tobacco leaf notes with some toasted oak and citrus undertones. On the palate, notes of lemongrass, capsicum and fresh black pepper. These roll into a light spicy flavour with honey and oak on the finish.
TBH I think official tasting notes usually go way over the top with descriptives!! I actually find this has quite a decent spice to it, with an excellent honey/oak vanillin flavour. The alcohol is well weighted giving a good finish.
An impressive rum. I look back at the last Mezan Trinidad that I had, which was the 1999. There I commented that while I liked runs at 40%, I thought that it would be better at the then Mezan Panama bottling strength of 42%. However, I have changed my view and 46% is far better. This is great with the weight and sophistication that many 12yo don't achieve. It does though have ever so slight hints that you might find in an Angostura rum.

... of apple and pineapple, a bit of oak, some dark chocolate, with a very nice finish. If the finish was longer, the ranking would be better, though.
