Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.

Love this rum! Very affordable, great balance, really nice! Will be always refilled.
Quite good rum with a good price/qualità ratio. Nice smell of vanille, long lasting in mouth, smooth. To much alcoholic at the beginning. After some minutes and warm up, It works Better.
Sweeter rum, with dark colour and well balanced taste. But The rum taste is not intensive. Very good neutral taste rum.
Golden spirit, quite industrial alcholic note. Solera aging, so nothing special at all... it is a very basic rum, I’ve tried both the cuban and the rest of the world version and the cuban one is slightly better. Very entry level and basic one, good choice only if you don’t have much money to spend since it has a good quality/cost range.
Enjoyable to do drink. Very smooth with a slight molasses taste. Good to sip on or mix.
Beautiful date. Looks great, composed, pretty, smells nice. But when it comes down to it, there's no personality here! Especially for an expensive rum, there is so much more to be had! It does everything right. It's inoffensive, no off-odor and minimal funk as a Cuban-style rum normally has. The only problem is that it stops there. I would at least expect some interesting oak spice or round caramel notes, or maybe something interesting about the mouthfeel at this price point.
I have nothing to complain about in terms of taste or experience with this rum. Then again, I have nothing to praise either. And for above $50, there should definitely something to be praised. If you can find it for cheaper, maybe $30-$35, then it's definitely a steal. But for what I spent ($65) you should definitely get more.
Good sipper. For my taste too much burn. For the price i think there's more rums to choose.
Smooth and very well blended.
"The aftertaste is quite spicy and hot. Not in an alcohol burn way."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Smooth but not a lot of body

The nose is smooth with just a slight burn. Slightly nutty with some fruit but not the depth for a sipper. Mixed well with Coke but again not the depth to standout with a citrus soda. Enjoyed but will not stock.
