Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.
Lidt tynd i smagen. Ikke så krydret. Lidt skarp men hurtigt væk i både smag og alkohol.
Personally i really do not like the strong ethanolish taste... but there is a hope!
Few things i found out:
1) Do not let it breath. Longer it sits, stroger is the ethanol taste.
2) When you smell it, it smells really nice... also, first moments when it touches your tongue are not bad but there is nothing special... nothing saying MOAR PLEASE.
3) If you let it in your mouth for too long, it is like cinnamon challange.
4) Too pricy to mix it with Coke.
Hvis man er til kraftige rom typer er det bestemt ikke denne sprittede type man skal gå efter
It is not undrinkable, but - is it a rum? They give it its flavours from essences. And I very much doubt the age tag. Sweet, simple, rum-like profile.
Metuzalem 15 grand rez. Dominika. Panak 95
Pekne voni, ostrejsi az nasladla svezi chut 4b
Can't really put my finger on it, but it's not to my liking.
My colleague recommend this bottle to me as his favorite. But my expectation wasn't met at all.
This one is a very basic rum. For my it is to sweet. Ita nice along with greentea.
Not 15 years old. 15 only designates the oldest rum in the blend. My impression is that the average age is likely half of that.
Complex, but too light and a tad sharp to appreciate easily on its own.
Vil hellere skyde pengene efter 23'eren
dont like the taste, very woody, thin, without sweetness, dont buy again
Lidt for kedelig og klart overvurderet rom. Prisen er for høj til smagen.
I have to admit that I have only tried out the Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 year old from the Matusalem family of rums, so it's very hard to say if the older rums are any better, but the 15 year is such a disappointment. Flavor profile is all messed up with nothing clearly identifiable, alcohol taste is very strong for a 15 year old aged rum and the burn was just nasty. Mix this with Coke and you get a decent rum-and-coke, but not even good at that one. Opthimus 15 year old rum is marginally worst than the Matusalem and both struggle to even earn a 4 rating.
Does not smell good, tastes too much ethanol. Maybe drinkable with Coca, but who pays such price for rum drinkable only with coca.
It has a bad strong taste that leaves nothing but bitterness. There are way better rums that come with the same price.
Too long ago to quite remember it, but I think it had too much of an ethanolic taste to me.
I dont like rum taste, rum bottle..nothing special for me.
Strong alcohol and little else. Least favorite rum since I started investigating "good" rums. I'll reserve the lowest ratings for Bacardi, Myers, etc.
Kind of a smokey taste, feels like moonshine. Definitely not a sipping rum for me. A barely enjoy it with coke.
Cam dur... Un Cuban simplu... Poate că la banii ăștia e ok... Prea acid pe aftertaste-ul ăsta foarte scurt. Tot așa, poate ok în mix-uri.
Please just do not buy these. It is more liquid sugar than a real rum. Still slightly better than some of the worst though.
I was able to drink it only with coke, what is a serious disappointment in the case of a rum like this
