Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.
I did not enjoy this one. Too spicy. Too strong. *as a refrence, my all time, so far. Eldorado 15 years*
Abvish cherry vanilla sweet nose. Gentle sweet vanilla caramel start. Lighter oaky body. Abv fades out and sweet vanilla sugar cane notes are finishing it...
Think the wife brought me this back from a girls weekend in Spain so can't grumble too much. Wouldn't replace it if it gets finished although oddly it's one of my friends favourites.
Good but a bit light and thin, remain good for the price and nice to sip. I come back to it regularly.
I love the Matusalem rums.
Nice sipping, not overly sweet.
If you like this try the 18yo for not much more money.
Hope to get the 23yo soon.
Perfect ron for very cold occasion on the bad weather on yachting. Nice to drink, not so sweet.
A new gift to my cabinet, will taste and rate soon.
Un rhum naturel et agréable sans non plus sortir du lot.
Rätt sköna chokladtoner i den och den är rätt ok att dricka
This rum has very good vanilla flavor.
Not as sweet as arome, but tasty.
It is better than Matusalem 23 year for me.
For me it was similar to Diplomatico, a little bit of burn but no special overpowering taste.
Both their 10 and 15 year rums are very good, but I give the edge to the 10 year. Both are medium color and have vanilla and wood notes, but the 15 was a bit more acidic and the 10 was a bit more vanilla.
Pale golden. I was not sure what to expect from this one. Straight away, aromas of mead, honey, some mild tarragon. However, this positive impression is broken -to some extent- by the flavours: fruity melon, on the sweet side, very samey.
There is not much to it.
It's certainly not unpleasant, and not a terrible rum, but it doesn't quite cut it. Perhaps the phrase "a combination of rums aged on average 15 years" is responsible, seeing as the better information being the youngest rum used... Drinkable, no major flaws but that's it.
This is a good rum. Not too sweet taste. Fine sipper.
Please just do not buy these. It is more liquid sugar than a real rum. Still slightly better than some of the worst though.
This one is a very basic rum. For my it is to sweet. Ita nice along with greentea.
Good color and aromatic. Good taste to mix with Seven Up.
Too weak and thin with too much alcohol taste in my opinion. Works quite well as a mixer, but nothing I can recommend for zipping.
It was one of the first so called zipping Ron that I tasted and it’s more or less a miracle that my zipping rum journey didn’t stop there.
Nothing special as far as taste goes. Was expecting more for the price.
Podivné, neotesané, asi tomuto pití třeba dát víc šancí, ale myslím, že u mně je nedostane.
Thought that it will be smooth nice rum. 15years. No. Very brutal alcohic taste.
