A bold and flavorful spiced rum - this one easily outclasses other big brand offerings like Captain Morgan and Kraken in terms of depth of flavor. However, I found the base spirit to be much harsher than the other Lemon Hart expressions I’ve tried, and would even go so far as to say that this bottle is tougher to drink on it’s own than the 151. Further, I found the spiced version to have less complexity than the 151. A decent buy, but not something I’d ring for again given my preferences
Au nez c est la vanille, un peu fort en alcool et vanillé au goût.un rhum épicé et foncé
My go to for a spiced rum either on the rocks to settle down or in a Dark n Stormy with something amber to balance.
This one is really my go to on a dark spiced. I wander because I assume at its price point maybe there are better options but honestly...it's way better than it would appear
The Original 1804 has a very one-note caramel flavour, and is pretty harsh neat. This goes up a step by adding a sweet natural vanilla flavour that doesn't taste artificial. If you've ever made your own vanilla extract using rum you'll recognize the scent and flavour. There's still something strangely citrusy about the flavour, although I'm pretty certain lemon is only in the name, not the rum itself.
This rum isn't great by any measure but it's pretty good; you could do far worse in the apocalypse.
Cloying vanilla on the nose and palate. The vanilla is overpowering and dominates whether neat or in a cocktail. Where is the rum? All I can taste is birthday cake.
Wow! I found another spiced rum I like! That makes 2 (Jonah’s Curse is much more warm spices than this). This one is far superior to most rums, much less spiced rum! So, it has a quality base rum that has a light beginning, a strong middle, and a long buttery vanilla toffee finish! Truely lovely! I wouldn’t have any hesitation sipping this or adding it to my carefully curated selection of rums for Tiki drinks!
($38 CAD) Wanted to grab a spiced rum for sipping to change things up a bit. Honestly, Blackpool was pleasantly surprising. I thought it would burn pretty good but it is relatively smooth with a bit of heat (not bad for 43%). Not sure if I’m just really easy when it comes to Rum but I really enjoy this one straight up.
Smells like loads of warm vanilla and spices. Maybe a little bit of wood as well.
Taste is similar: vanilla, spices, carmel. Raisins, and dried fruit before it settles into the heat.
It’s a nice change up from my other rums so far and definitely gets points for that. Granted, I don’t have any other spiced rums to compare to. Either way, I am digging this one pretty good. For this price, the value is there.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Out of the gate, I am not a big fan of spiced rum and know little about it, but have had some that I have liked. This, however, tasted like cough syrup straight and mixed, just a bit better.
