Malibu Coconut Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and blended with coconut and sugar. The brand is owned by one of the world's largest spirits producers, Pernod Ricard.
Currently produced in Canada, Malibu Coconut rum was originally made in Curaçao from fruit spirits flavored with coconut and rum. The original recipe was developed as a shortcut for bartenders making Piña Coladas, however today the stands on its own.
Not a real rhum (half the alcohol) but tastes very sweet/good/coconut for drinks. Not for sipping !
Proud Canadian product great for university parties but not a real rum
Good in certain mixed drinks. Not really good to drink straight.
Your tropical drinks will be much more flavorful by adding this great tasting fun rum.
I enjoy sipping it straight up.
“Mon amie laissez le bon temps rouler!”
It's hard to call this sweet thing a rum. But thrown in a coke or some kind of summer cocktail, it actually does it's job. During a day on the beach, I don't mind a Malibu and coke. If no one is looking, of course...
Purely a mass production rum. The coconut is artificial and quite obvious sugar addition. Repugnantly sweet.
El mejor sin duda
Not something to drink straight or with a mixer. Almost syrup-like in consistency and to me only has a place in cheap cocktails with other strong flavours.
This is my teenage rum...one of those i used to use by then in my efforts to mix up tropical drinks. I don`t use it anymore, it has purely nostalgic value to me. It`s not a good rum, overly sweet and cloying. The bottle is pretty though, i could use it as a soap dispenser:-)
Only gets a reasonable rating cos it's amazing with pineapple juice, otherwise one for the kids, and known to nauseate others! Ok in cocktails.... Hawaiian tropic anyone?
Nice touch with the coconut.
Rating it as a mixer more than anything.
...especially with cold milk, and optionally ice crunch.
Definitely been in my cabinet for years. Good for mixers.
As I was young i drinked to much of it :o)
but I can remember great evenings
I have had several coconut rums that blow this away. Brinley's is outstanding, but hard to find. I am not a fan of Bacardi, but their cocunut rum is actually quite decent. This one is just a fake tasting, overly sweet mess.
I tried this for the first time many many years ago and it shall aways have a fond place in my heart and for that reason alone i give it a ten
When it comes to these flavored fusion rums, Malibu is oneof the OG's on the block. I really like this on the rocks with pineapple juice,
Coconut flavored vodka
I'm gonna keep it short and simple. If you appreciate rum: Just Don't.
for cocktails maybe?
good with pineapple juice
Malibu, Parrot Bay, and Cruzan coconut rums all taste about the same to me. I can drink this all day long mixed with coke. In the summer I like to mix with OJ.
This was THE Coconut Rum back in the day. Both Parrot Bay and Cruzan Coconut Rum had upstaged this for a while but now that BLUE CHAIR BAY rum is on the market, it has eclispe them all on pure taste. Malibu has fallen. If you can't find BLUE CHAIR BAY COCONUT RUM, you should easily be able to find Cruzan Coconut or even Parrot Bay Coconut Rum that is better than this. There is a Malibu BLACK on the Market that is tastier than the original or maybe it appears so to me due to its higher alcohol content, but i do recommend the BLACK version for mixed drinks.
