First smell/taste is spices, grassy agricole sweetness following shortly. Some caramel, vanilla, mango and oak detectable.
Love the lasting burnt sugar cane taste on the tongue. Classic aged agricole. Definitely worth trying if you have a chance. Obviously not in the Filibuste league, but beating Clement/JM/STJames VOs/VSOPs left and right. 8.5

Nose: Very fruity , some wood, clearly a rhum agricole
Palate: Spicy attack
Finish: long, still pretty spicy, getting fruitier and somewhat smoky at the end

This rum is an excellent rum. Spicy, with a note like clove and other spices. A delight with dark chocolate. The length is not exceptional otherwise the note would be even better.

Visited the Depaz Distillery while vacationing at Martinique. Distillery tours were closed, so got the Depaz 2002 from a local grocery store at EUR 95 per bottle. Pretty decent old school bottle and label design. Light golden color. Traditional very dry Rhum Agricole notes followed by grass, strong oak and floral bouquet to your nose and palate. Strong burn at the end. Rhum Agricole lovers can easily add 2 points to my score.

Sweet aromas of orange, light toffee and caramel.
"Nice slightly peppery note which moves into an almost bourbon like spicy zestiness."
