Plantation Original Dark Double Aged Trinidad & Jamaica

Plantation is worth picking up for it's price, there's nothing that will blow you away about it though. Sweet with vanilla notes, decently smooth. Good for mixing.

I really lucked out on a bottle of Plantation Original Dark Rum 1.75L. Total Wine marked it less than the 750ml bottle, so it was less than $23. That's why I bought it, but now that I have tasted it I would pay full price. I really think it was excellent for less than $25. This was very smooth for 40%, light on the tongue, fruity with a little spice, not dry and a medium finish. I would say perfect for a dark and stormy, or even on the rocks. Unfortunately on return to buy another it was not on the shelf and the 750ml bottle price had gone up. Another odd thing, the bottle I purchased has no markings on the label as to quantity! it was a larger bottle than the 750ml.

Good middle of the road rum, can be sipped, can be mixed. Very Plantation family flavor. Definitely needs to be chilled to sip. Great for the price point.

Aroma
Plum and molasses followed by fresh sugarcane.

Taste
Fresh plums followed by molasses, brown sugar, bread, and spices.

This rum is not a sipper and definetly doesn't mix well with coke (Brugal Anejo is wayyy better for this purpose). The oak nose overwhelms everything else, so that's basically all.
The finish for me is unpleasant, a bit sour with a little alcohol burn.

Another good offering from plantation this replaced the local swill that is Bundy in my liquor cabinet when I decided life was to short for bad drink

La verdad....es que Gabriel será todo un crack pero todos sus rones me saben prácticamente igual y demasiado dulces, llevo priobados unos pocos y si tuviera que elegir me quedaba con el blanco, todos los tostados para mi paladar están adulterados, demasiado azúcar añadido y mucha mezcla, este es uno más, buen olor a roble, en boca no desentona pero para mi paladar es demasiado dulce, por lo menos es barato por 1l he pagado 12.95€ lo que no es mucho pero me parece que no aporta nada a mi que me encanta el añejamiento sin añadir más que tiempo partiendo siempre de la mejor caña de azúcar, aún así no lo pienso mezclar.

An excellent dark rum which is sweet and full of flavour. Can be had for an inexpensive price too. Great blend by plantation that is flavourful without being too vegetative or molasses-y. We become a staple in my bottom shelf. Always pleased to try plantation blends, and this is no exception.

Jeden z podstawowych rumów Plantation. Można już próbować pić solo, świetny do drinków, naprawdę niezły rum. Bije Bacardi i Havana Club na głowę, w dobrej promocji brać kilka butelek od razu ;) jeśli podstawowy rum oceniam tak wysoko, to co mówić o lepszych flaszkach.
