Rum tasting in the Finnish wilderness with my good old friend started with Mombacho XO. Very nice high end bottle and label design. Mahogany color. Strong and dry oakiness to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Dry but short burn at the end.
I like Mombacho series, and I have almost all kinds in my cabinet.
All are delicious, but this one is a top class among them.
The nose and plate, chocolate, nuts oil, butter caramel.
Very rich and deep taste.
Nose are earthy tones from vulcanic soil, then taste is not harsh at all, I would say it is typical blended molasses rum with dark caramel tones.
Amber color with gray green reflect. The nose is on dried fruits such as hazelnut, walnut. On the palate, the same aromas are always present on the nut. Very sweet, with a sweet finish over brown sugar. The finish is moderately long.
