I picked up a bottle of this rum last time I went to Cuba but didn't get a chance to try it until I got back home to Canada (I originally bought it because a local told me it was Cuba's 2nd most popular brand, and the price was great at 8 Cuban pecos). I really loved the sweet flavour and it mixed well with cola. Now I'm regretting not having bought more as I can't get it in Canada. I will bring home a few more bottles on my next trip to Cuba.

Really nice rum, not sweet (this one is completely different to the elixir with the white label), ideal for Cuba Libre. Much better than Havana Club 7, stronger than Santiago de Cuba Añejo or Caney Centuria but at a similar level.

OK, more rum and not so sweet like 7y, but "empty" taste, only raisins. Better take Bucanero...

not exactly sipping rum, but yeah, small shot wouldnt hurt. its definitely smoother and colorful in taste than white legendario (also older), but its stil anejo. Therefore more eligible for coctails. On the other side, same price range gives spiced Kraken or Diplomatico (anejo even 25% cheaper, or exclusiva). Id recommend it, taste is bit different than other aged, also more alcoholic given the "aged" title, still you can remember it.

Specific, rich flavor,.it reminds me of Cuban cigars.

Such a big difference with legendario elixer de cuba. This bottle is just a waste of your time. Simply don't do it but do go for the "Legendario elixer de cuba"

Now we're getting somewhere! Legendario has aged a rum to perfection here. I haven't talked about the bottle yet but they have put some thought into the new design from the simple cylinder with nice feminine curves. The label shows a colonial port scene complete with rum barrels ready for export. What's in the bottle carries enough time in oak to be sipped neat... I wouldn't mix this with anything besides a little water to open the flavours and at the $60 I shelled out, a crime to mix anyway. Firesides chats and cigars will be enhanced by this rum. A 10 for smoothness and character and I have had similar rums at a much higher price.
