Lamb’s Navy Rum is a blend of Caribbean rums that are aged four years in whiskey and bourbon barrels.
The original Lamb's Navy rum recipe, created by Alfred Lamb, blended 18 different rums sourced from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados and Guyana. Lamb began blending the rums in England in 1859 and references the British Royal Navy in its name.

Drinkable mixed, but the after taste is really not great, even with coke.
I was introduced to rum & coke by a friend when I first started uni. His preference was always Lamb's and mine was Captain Morgan's, but we both went for whichever of the two a bar had...can't remember which I actually tried first. I found it slipped down better than vodka / whisky and coke, so I got through my fair share as a student.
I didn't know any better until I stumbled across Sailor Jerry's at a local Wetherpoon's, due to it being 10p cheaper (how?).
Cheap mixer "navy" style rum blend bottled in the Great Britain at 40%
Nose: quite heavy "toasty" butterscotch, vanilla, bit sweet on the nose, mostly trini and barbados character on the nose with tiny bit of jamaican funk in the end
Taste: butterscotch and vanilla, quite young and bit flat flavour wise.
Finish: mild oak, bit drying with quite unpleasant alcoholic kick.
Overall: Quite bland rum, too alcoholic and light bodied for me, is also bit lost in tiki cocktails so i would never pick this over Wood's or Pussers.
Nothing special when sipping neat, very whisky like, leves strong demera sugar aftertaste. Suprisingly sweet begining, Than a fast appearing Coffee like aftertaste. When you mix with Coke, strongly remind the usual taste of cold brew Coffee,
its not my type in this price range. I thought it will be more rum like and breaking through classic rum taste.. But it reminds me the Last fast shot of whisky when you hawe to leave the bar..
This is my first Lambs Rum and as expected for the $40NZD price, I knew this was going to be a simple, non complex rum with obvious flavours.
I was attracted to the bottle which caught my eye due to the St George cross emblazoned across the label. A darkened rum is enclosed and matches my wooden furniture nicely. Having tasted cheaper rums in the past I'm immediately thinking burnt treacle, black strap molasses, cautiously hot on the palate, maybe some oak, maybe some mild spice. In the glass swirls a clingy liquid which presents medium to thin legs. Molasses and caramel are on the nose once the glass is allowed to settle. It is obvious and dominates. Black strap molasses carries through to tasting, caramel notes are present as is a spiciness. I'm trying to find the oak, but it's not obvious. I want to try with ice and coke thinking this will carry nicely with the cola as I get some nuttiness in the flavor profile also.
This rum says hello and goodbye just as quick as it arrives. A warmness carries through to the stomach but nothing left in my mouth worth acknowledging.
Overall, a solid mixing rum. However will not be purchasing again, as it just does not stand out as a contender for my attention.
Nice initial smell but the taste is harsh and empty. If you're stuck with it, add in sugary cocktails
All to be expected from a large scale dark navy rum but certainly not the worst.
Nice initial flavour but the toasted caramel is just a bit too bitter for the end note.
Best saved for mixing or a cold long night at sea.
For a popular navy rum it's not that amazing. It is definitely missing the navy strength punch to it. Just needs more!
The brand name rum all the old timers drank. Still a standard in the liquor cabinet. Best with Coke. 23.49 12/18
On a par with Captain Morgan's dark for me, which is not great. Sadly again money and the owners as well as the public have a lot to answer for. However both serve as something for beginners to try as both are not pricey and both not being hugely complex
Taken the mantle of the standard dark rum

The rum is very sweet.
"It’s a very rich, sweet, fruity rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is the one rum I just cannot drink. There is nothing specifically terrible about it. It is just flawed in all aspects. The flavour is not there.
