The sugar cane for Abelha is organic and fresh. It is processed the same day it is harvested, and then aged in barrels for 3 years. When you pour this beautiful golden liquid into your glass and drink it right away you'll get lots of alcohol, some vegetality and not much else. But if you let it breathe in your glass for 5-10 minutes you'll discover a velvety, smooth, luxurious elixir which tastes like Summer. Freshly cut grass, creamy butter, peppery spice and a bit of oak. Really delicious...and addictive. Straight up works best for this one.

Sympathetic concept from this producer with all aspects of production being organic. Smells great and tastes like a more than decent rhum agricole. A bit woody and slightly bitter, as barrel-agee chacacas often are.

This is a very good cachaca, and it´s not over filtered to kill the flavors and transform it into vodka...it`s smooth, creamy, buttery, earthy and a bit grassy and so yummy!

First inhale reminded me of agricole but not as pungent. Definitely vegetal. Warming alcohol across the tongue but no burn. Long warming aftertaste I can't quite place

The nose on this one is very bright and fruity. Rich honey notes, apple cider, wood and vegetal freshness. On the palate you first get sweetness and the typical cachaça flavors plus some wood. Soon after that though, a harsh bitterness sets in that lingers in your mouth and is very unpleasant. Think of chewing on a dandelion stem, of course less intense. Makes me want to rise out my mouth.
I give it a rating of 4 because of the good nose and for the potential use in cocktails. Because of that bitterness though, I do not recommend it as a neat sipper. But maybe it's just my bottle that's bad, who knows. It's batch 46/2012.

Edit:
Updated the rating from 4 to 6 because it does pretty well in cocktails.

Pretty good. Not very complex, quite sweet. Kind of creamy which is a bit odd. Coconutty, dunno how that’s happened. It’s good, I quite like it.
