As the name says, it's an aged rum. This rum is not bad by any means, but it does have a distinct flavor that I cannot pin down. I hate to call it "mediciney", though that was my first thought. It's more like a spice that I just cannot name. Almost like adding a few drops of Jägermeister to your rum (but not quite like that). In all, worth the $35 I paid for it. I actually bought a bottle for a friend who is from Mauritius, and I figured I would get one for myself as well. A good sipping rum, medium darkness, pleasant nose. Would definitely recommend.
Aroma is nice and gentle with vanilla, sugarcane and toffee. Taste is light and sweet with again vanilla, butter, caramel, sugar cane and a bit of aok. Aftertaste is shorter. Good for beginners and ladies.
Price (25Eur in Czech Republic) is very good.
At first blush, I hated this. All burn, especially for a 40%. But forewarned, I added some water and let it breathe for a few minutes. A salinity and green olive notes emerged, reminding me of some clarins or other terroir focused rums.
After that, I decided to try ti'punch style. A hint of lime and sugar compliments this well. Recommended.
Kind of makes me wonder what this was like unaged.
From the bottle: "Aged up to 12 years in French Oak... hints of toasted oak and softwood... lingering flavors of fruits and vanilla."
Got a sample of this rum from RR Tasting Club.
Emperor Rum Heritage is a blend of aged rums from the distillation of pure and fresh sugarcane juice and molasses.
The aromas is vegetal, oaky and fruity with hints of vanilla, almond and spices.
In mouth and palate and during the medium long finish the aromas comes back as tastes with quite a lot sweetness, but it’s also also a little bit smoky during the finish
Overall a rum that I mostly characterize as a Spanish styled rum thats too sweet for me.
Picture: My opened bottle and the poured glass.
This may be a good mixer but not for sipping. A bit too much alcohol.
It's not bad, but I have had other Mauritian rums before and they all seem to be roughly the same - a little harsh, hard on alcohol and a bit of burn. This one is also a little sweet. The nose isn't great. It's a bit metallic and alcoholic, but there is a bit of molasses in there too. A very slightly creamy texture to the taste and a hint of vanilla. A warm aftertaste with a little burn.
No uz som mal aj lepsi, ale na popijeni u pokru dobry
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Jemná vůně tropického ovoce a vanilky. Delikátní vyvážená chuť.
