Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

The color is dark. Serious. No nonsense. It's the beginning of a bold night.
It tastes sweet in general but some clear spicy and woody flavors as well making it very drinkable without getting blown away from sugary flavors.
Spiced rum good as a mixer or on its own with ice. It is underrated and worth buying.
Goes great in a Dark and Stormy!
Not too good neat however.
This is something that’s good in a pinch but would not be in my top 10 choices
This is not a bad rum at all. Not great and not my kind of thing but the flavors, spice and boldness were pretty solid for this type of rum. Worth giving it a try and will do in a pinch when you are in the mood for rum and the bar only has crappy rail rums and this.
Its definitely a mixer but in a pinch you can sip it, I look forward to an aged rum from kraken
Velmi korenena a docela sladká záležitost v černé barvě. Stylová láhev. Ideální k Pirátům z Karibiku
if you are a fan of spiced rums you make like this one, for me its only a mixer
I'm not into the spiced rums category. Kraken tastes of artificial vanilla and added sugar. It feels more like a liqueur than a rum.
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I like to sample neat before mixing, and this has nice flavor. I poured it in my NEAT glass, and while it's a bit oily, it does have some rich caramel colors. It smells of oak and chocolate, with a little burn in the nose. The first sip is sweet in the front or the mouth with a little burn in the back of the throat. It leaves behind an oaky taste with hints of honey, clove, and pepper.
I added an ice cube and it really brought out the chocolate and caramel notes. I won't be adding this to my lineup of sippers, but it makes for a great rum & Coke, and would kick-up a pina colada with some interesting flavors.
