Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Discovered this by mistake decision on a travel trip. Could not find an upscale liquor store so this was provided to me as a good run. I was Leary at first but mildly surprised, not a bad simple tasting room!
Hail to the Kracken!
I try it its good, but many other is better in this price.
I bought a small bottle to try liked it and bought a large bottle to share with friends. Imagine my surprise when nothing happened. No, buzz at all. I tested it with my proof and trail hydrometer found out that is was less than 10% alcohol not the advertised 47% (94proof) on the bottle. I sent an email to the company, no phone number listed . No response. I took it back to the liquor store ad demanded my money back. The sale clerk said they did not do that on open bottles. I said that I would get the credit card company involved. I finally spoke to the manager who quickly gave my money back. Not the first complaint. DO not buy this product as it is a fraud.
a unique taste that delights with its smoothness and complex character, dominated by the accents of strong espresso, caramel, ginger and cloves.
Quite happy with kraken. Strong taste, sugary but not too much sweet... drink it straight or with Ice for me. Would Buy it again? Probably...
Sweet but tasty and good for the price. Mix with apple juice
This is a good and strong spiced rum. At 47% Alc. This has no problems standing out as as a mixer for coke, or as a bold and slightly sweet sipper if you prefer spiced rum.
Smooth rum not too harsh, very nice taste. Vanilla spice
Spicy, strong, tricky one. Good enough that I'll buy it many times
Spelletjes-en rumavond met vrienden. Prima rum om de avond mee te beginnen 👍
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

If this was a blackstrap rum, I would give it an 8, because it is very unique, has a beautiful color, and taste awesome. If you want a different type of dark and stormy, use Kraken and a not too gingery ginger beer. You don't want to overdo it with too much ginger and spices.
As a spiced rum, I give it a 6 for an overall score of 7. Spiced rum drinkers may add it to their collection for diversity for a small fee of $20, but at the end of the day it's a lightweight in comparison to other spiced rums. I don't actually taste 11 spices, but they well may be there. To some degree, it's like your amateur bartender's "Long Island Iced Tea"; you only taste 2 of the 11 ingredients he claims to have used and you're a little disappointed because you feel jipped (i.e. cheated, bamboozled, conned), but once it's said and done, that drink hit the spot.
