Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

It's not a rum I enjoyed drinking. The taste was fine, but too strong. It felt like your mouth was rinsed.
Great mixer rum and one of my favorites for this. Not so good as a sipper, it make a great rum n coke.
This is a lovely introduction to rum, my gateway rum. Lots of flavors and plenty sweet.
strong and powerfull rum, but for this ammount it is a good choice for sure
Rum with an interesting taste and a slightly noticeable alcohol / peppery taste. it is no better than a bumbu but you can easily drink it with or without ice
This drink is something peculiar, it is between rum and almost a liqueur, it has an incredibly good smell. It is currently my favorite drink, I like to drink it straight, it goes down very smoothly on a cold day. And at the same time I use it to invent drinks like The Black Mojito and The Pirate Espresso.
The Black Mojito, I change the rum for kraken (black color) and I change the lime for Sicilian lime. And for The Pirate Espresso is an extra strong espresso, 1 shot of Kraken, a little of honey, a cinnamon stick. If it's for dessert, I put homemade whipped cream made with cinnamon.
Full flavour, rather Synthetic spice. Preferred with a mixer
Comes in a Nice bottle with a Nice story but not worth it.
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I like to sample neat before mixing, and this has nice flavor. I poured it in my NEAT glass, and while it's a bit oily, it does have some rich caramel colors. It smells of oak and chocolate, with a little burn in the nose. The first sip is sweet in the front or the mouth with a little burn in the back of the throat. It leaves behind an oaky taste with hints of honey, clove, and pepper.
I added an ice cube and it really brought out the chocolate and caramel notes. I won't be adding this to my lineup of sippers, but it makes for a great rum & Coke, and would kick-up a pina colada with some interesting flavors.
