Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.

The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

If this was a blackstrap rum, I would give it an 8, because it is very unique, has a beautiful color, and taste awesome. If you want a different type of dark and stormy, use Kraken and a not too gingery ginger beer. You don't want to overdo it with too much ginger and spices.

As a spiced rum, I give it a 6 for an overall score of 7. Spiced rum drinkers may add it to their collection for diversity for a small fee of $20, but at the end of the day it's a lightweight in comparison to other spiced rums. I don't actually taste 11 spices, but they well may be there. To some degree, it's like your amateur bartender's "Long Island Iced Tea"; you only taste 2 of the 11 ingredients he claims to have used and you're a little disappointed because you feel jipped (i.e. cheated, bamboozled, conned), but once it's said and done, that drink hit the spot.

Its easily the best presentation and the flavor is rich and drinks like a much more expensive rum

Propably most overrated ~25 euro rum in the world. Havana 7 years and Plantation Original Dark are so much better.

I tried this because I found it in a small bottle. I found it didn't have much of an aroma, maybe slightly sweet syrup. I was expecting a captain morgan nasty flavor, but I was pleasantly surprised. The spices are subtle and it actually sips decently. I got some nutmeg, vanilla, maybe some pepper? Makes an awesome rum and coke, and in a pinch isn't terrible neat or on the rocks.

I'm guessing that they start with cheap, bulk rum and then add Worcestershire sauce or something, plus a ton of hair dye for color. This is not a delicious product. Their marketing department should get the credit for this rum's success, but it could just as easily be vodka.

Alkohol: 40 %
Původ: neupřesněný Karibik
Aroma: Příjemně uhlazená, sametová vůně s broušenou kůží, melasou, lesním medem, marcipánem a kávou. (85 b)
Chuť: Chuť zprvu lehce nasládlá, kávová, pendreková, v dozvuku spíš do sucha. Zakončení je hodně melasové. (83 b)
Body: 84
Shrnutí: Solidní kořeněný rum, o vzorek od Nethara jsem musel bojovat, protože jsem dal ochutnat přítelkyni a tu velmi zaujal.

Not to sweet, not to dry, nice rum spiced for every day.

Good 1:1 with ginger and smooth enough to drink straight but not enough depth of flavour and very sweet. Overall a decent rum for the price tag.

This has been my go to for a while now. Something affordable that tastes good. Good for a dark and stormy or neat depending on my mood.

When you want the Best in Fake, Go with Kraken, atleast the additives are natural so they say. You could make you're own brew with a standard aged rum and add spices yourself and would probably be awesome but not many would so hence this market. Enjoy if it's your thing. I didn't mind this one but prefer my rum unadulterated and wouldn't buy again.
