Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

It's not bad for what it is. I'm not really a soft drink-liquor-mixing kinda guy, but i use this to make my guests a rum&cola if they request one. I find these way better than e.g. Bacardi or Havana club. It's good but it's nothing to be blown away by.
It's so fake that celebrities are using it as a facial scrub. All I can taste is sugar and artificial spices. Send it back to the abyss from whence it came.
This is a good rum to rely on for mixing purposes. Sweet to taste.
This rum definitely has entertainment value, as evidenced by the marketing and the over-the-top nature of it. Indeed, it is almost difficult to criticize The Kraken is very sweet, with exaggerated caramel and vanilla notes, followed by a strong afterburn-- not surprising given that This rum is 94 proof. The Kraken is fun, but it is not smooth enough to be an enjoyable sipping experience. For the price, there are better choices, and if you like it, Black Magic is much cheaper and possibly better. With The Kraken, you're not paying for rum; you're paying for the brand.
Great first thing over crunchy nut cornflakes. Not as good with pancakes mind you.
Full bodied flavor with a pleasant aroma. Comes packaged in a cool bottle complete with nautical beastie folklore. Not best reason to try it but worked out for me.
I could drink it straight but I would not want to. It's okay in a rum and coke but other than that it is strong, syrupy and lacks flavour. Much better stuff out there for the price. With all that said I have killed a kraken or two late on a Saturday night out.
No soy fan de los rones con especias, no lo compraría, no me gusto
Terrible tasting rum, but not sure what all the rage is with the younger set on this one.
Get what you pay for on this one
IMO one of the worst rums I have ever drunk. Tastes like an artificial sweet lolly water flavoured neutral spirit with strong vanilla and medicinal aftertaste. Way over priced in a pretty bottle. I would normally leave spirits I don't like much to decorate my bar shelves for a decade or so until drunk by others. This one was poured down the sink.
Too much spices, too far from a rum as I imagine it. It beats your taste nerves in your mouth to mash. I have to tried it as a mixing rum.
Gingerbread, coffee and caramel on the nose, closely followed by a WHOLE LOT of booziness. Eventually opens up with chocolate and cola. The palate isn't quite as discriminating, showing some vanilla and molasses before quickly being rushed out by spices and the 94 proof. Also, being a blackstrap, it's definitely on the sweeter side. Not much on the finish besides "rum," but it does linger for a while. 6.5/10
This rum has a lot of nice flavours to it and is nice and sweet, but it is by no means smooth.
Smoothness isn't the harshest part however, it has a lot of burn.
Despite this I can recommend it as the best under £25 rum for sipping.
It's good mixed with coke and lime, or straight out of freezer. Very vanilla. Not really a sipper, but high octane.
It tasted like cough syrup. I couldn't sip it or even get past the smell. Almost turned me off to Rums completely.
Love this rum, nice and dark, full of flavour, it does as it says on the bottle
Kraken Black Spiced 40% (Caribbean/USA)
Eye: Crazy dark, thick Coke
Nose: Loads of marzipan, arrack and modeling clay to begin with. A bit "strong" at first but mellows very quickly and turns soft, almost weak, like an old, used battery you find in a drawer. It actually smells of Coke and perhaps it is designed to function as a mixer? Then artificial vanilla appears together with embrowned butter, burnt sugar, some orange and a second, even stronger, wave of arrack. It's not an off-putting smell, just not a smell that suggests something edible (read: drinkable). It's very artificial, cheap and appears to be very young.
Mouth: Oh dear. Where to start? It's very sweet and one dimensional. It actually hurts, not only me teeth but my intellect as well with its simple and lazy attitude. Lots of arrack of course (we were warned), vanilla, fresh cut, wet tobacco, chocolate and dried orange. It's like drinking "treacle & Coke". We have burnt sugar with some anonymous spices and not much else. But even so, it's not unpleasant. The ABV is actually well balanced and perfect for this one but the sugar level is through the roof and can´t be disregarded.
Reaction: I got a heads up from my friend about this one (an excuse in advance for the sample really) and with that in mind I did expect something quite nasty. This is not nasty, but rather tasty in its own weird way. However, I don't see it as a drink as much as a drink ingredient. Now, I don't tend to drink cocktails and such so for me Kraken Black Spiced will end up on the same memory-heap as many other single dimension alcoholic beverages. I never drink spirits on the rocks but with this one I might reconsider. Maybe it can be a part of an experimental lamb rack glazing or something like that?

Sabor fuerte y muy perfumado solo para tomar con coca
Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
It's a gimmicky, dyed, spiced drink rum, and it is very affordable. And it's fun. But to add to it it actually taste quite good. A pleasant fruity nose with fudge and caramel undertones.
Taste has a pronounced vanilla fudge tone, and also caramel and... candy... A lot of sweet stuff in there without being overly sweet.
It's meant to be a mixer I think, but it works surprisingly well as a sipper. If you don't have anything better nearby.
I'm guessing that they start with cheap, bulk rum and then add Worcestershire sauce or something, plus a ton of hair dye for color. This is not a delicious product. Their marketing department should get the credit for this rum's success, but it could just as easily be vodka.
This is my rum I order when out for the night . I drink it mix into a old fashion and always wake the next day all good to go again
Forget the hype, the cool looking bottle just try it, love it and move on. Puts a smile on my face when deciding what to drink, and never disappointed. Great with a coke but fine by itself.
