Kraken Black Spiced

Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4) Distilled

Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.

The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

It's not bad for what it is. I'm not really a soft drink-liquor-mixing kinda guy, but i use this to make my guests a rum&cola if they request one. I find these way better than e.g. Bacardi or Havana club. It's good but it's nothing to be blown away by.

Harrrrrr. Short for harsh in this case. Vanilla and sugar abound. Certainly not my favorite.

You get pretty good rum for this price. It has very interesting taste and smell. You can feel vanilla, ginger and maybe a bit of cherry. Kraken is quite sweet and very hot in a throat but It is acceptable because It is spiced rum.
Nothing for people who seek soft taste.

I've been looking for an alternative to Myers as restaurants and bars seem to be dropping Myers from their shelves. I prefer Myers with tonic and lime and have tried several others when Myers was unavailable. None of them tasted remotely close to my favorite until I received a bottle of Kraken as a gift. It's not an exact match, by any means, but close enough for me. The flavor of rums comes out more with tonic than with colas so I'm a little more picky. Kraken is a bit more potent at 94 proof but the price is about 1/3 less than Myers.

i was attracted to it for the color. Wish its dark color had more of a dark flavor to go with it, but it is good to mix with a Doctor Pepper once in awhile.

Better than the low-end spiced rums, but nothing special here to keep me coming back. Good for mixed drinks or coke.

Never been much for spiced rum, as far as Kraken goes, it has a kick that you can't miss, thick and syrupy was a turn off. I have to say my guests who drink spiced do enjoy a kraken and ginger ale. Not for me however.

A rum of sufficient flavour but doesn't quite live up to the imagined fullness.

Mijn persoonlijke favoriet. Prijs-kwaliteit de beste! Een mooi donkerbruin kleurtje, sterke caramelsmaak, zeer lekker met een colaatje.

A nice spiced rum. The Kraken is also a cool beast!

The most interesting thing about the kraken is the name, the bottle and the label design.
About the rum, i found it like an too artificial built, strong aromas but no complexity and structure. There are a lot of better spiced rums
