Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.
It’s got the power of the kraken but tastes like seahorse piss.
If you are looking for a substitute for Captain Morgan, this is a good one. Decent flavor profile of some spices and vanilla. The nose is a bit harsh and smells almost too sweet. I enjoyed it with pineapple and it was rather tasty.
Funkar med viss tveksamhet att dricka utan cola.
Har viss karaktär men lite populistisk och inte en rom som man börjar med när man ska lära sig.
Easy to drink.Tasty, sweet. But too sugary. Too much caramel.
Even for a spiced rum, this is pretty gruesome stuff. Heavy artificial taste notes, and tons of sugar (and caramel colouring). NO.
I’ve not really tried much rum before, I recently had some in a cocktail (which I liked) so I decided to get some of this. I’ve not got much to compare it to but I like it a lot. I’m drinking it with tonic, it reminds me a bit of Jack and Coke.
Sweet yet rich, smooth with subtle flavours. But not the best of the black spiced rums as it is does not quite provide enough flavour to make up for the richness.
On it's own this one tastes quite raw and gets no more than 3 stars, but Kraken is not meant to be enjoyed by itself. Mix it with Coke, Dr. Pepper or Old Jamaica (ginger beer) and it reaches the sky! Truly awesome spiced rum that has a great value for the money.
I appreciate the PR department at Kraken, but I’ll more likely than not, go for another spiced rum in the future.
Easy to drink but yet not of easy virtue. I find it mature in a way, rather well balanced and welcome.
This is a good Rum that is found almost everywhere and usually well priced.
The bottles look amazing and the taste is good.
Nice dark spiced rum for good price and it comes in nice bottle, worth for a try.
One of the most popular, but WAY over-rated. Tastes gritty, like the black colouring is made from ashes.
Looks like water which comes out of my mouth after eating dutch liqorice. Smell is okay but not great. Taste is pretty okay. Mixed with coke is a great combo
At first this rum was a little on the harsh side when sipped straight. But with each revisitation; neat, with a splash of water or more, or mixed, the taste improves by revealing its great depth of subtle flavors to the palate. The flavor persists when diluted to give a softer, subtle taste. I am surprised by my growing appreciation for this rum and will continue to keep this label in stock.
I won a bottle in a sailboat race. It’s not terrible definitely better than Captain. I keep it around for folks that like spiced rum.
Bought it for the cool bottle, stayed for itbeing a great mixer. Pairs extremely well with the more spicy ginger beers or some basic coke. Too sweet to sip though in my opinion . Good price for its quality.
I'm not a fan of pre-spiced rums and think they have limited use in craft cocktails. With that said, Kraken is by far the best reasonably-priced spiced rum for its purpose that I have had. Way better than Captain's, Sailor Jerry's, Admiral Nelson's, or any of the even worse versions of those out there.
It's not good by any stretch, but the slightly overbearing vanilla and 47% ABV make it a moderate upgrade for college rum and cokes and crappy dark n' stormies
I'm a big fan of this rum. It's dark almost completely black. I was surprised at the strong alcohol kick that is present in the aftertaste. But the flavour is great, it's sweet and I almost want to say I taste vanilla. Kind of reminds me of the taste of Bacardi 8. Great rum for the price. Most people would say it would be better enjoyed in a cocktail but I found that drinking it on the rocks to be a treat.
Strong, 47 %. Looking for the perfect sipping spice rum and this one fell short.
I prefer the bottle design to the taste, nonetheless this rum is not bad mixed with a lemonade.
It's generally a nice rum when mixed, however there are significantly better rum for the price range
