Appleton Estate Special Gold rum

Appleton Estate Special Gold

Jamaica | Gold | 40% ABV

Appleton Estate Special Gold rum is made using column and pot stills. The rum is then aged in Jack Daniel’s whiskey barrels and hand-blended.

The Special Gold Appleton brand is said to have been first blended during World War II as a substitute for whiskey, which was at the time difficult to find.

It’s a Jamaican standard and we bring back a couple of bottles each year.

It's super cheap and tastes as cheap as it costs. It can be drinkable mixed with coca-cola but get ready for the massive headache on the next day.

This was the second Appleton rum I tried and I was shocked that it was only a small step down from the V/X, which was a few dollars more. It's not quite as smooth as that one but still pretty smooth. The taste is decent and it's a great value for being a regular ol' gold rum.

I like to use this rum in tiki drinks that calls for a golden jamaican rum. Not very tasty for sipping though.

Only had a miniature of this, but a bit bland for my liking. Nice taste, but just too little of it.
