Nice Havana rum. It's slightly sweet without going overboard. The sweetness quickly fades into a spicy mix of burnt banana, leathery tobaco and oak. There are smoother alternatives, but this one is nice none the less.
For a rum costing about £45 and allegedly one of Havana Club's premier rums it was disappointing! Pleasant enough but has a sharp finish normally from low cost bar brands. Not really a "sipping" rum but good with mixers and cola. Only positive was that I bought it in Cuba for about £20. If it was that price in UK I would certainly buy it again!
The aroma of this bottle is burned banana, sweet fruit and some alcohol. The taste is dried fruit, and hint of coco and sweet. with a long an intense after burn, which gives you a warm feeling, and dreaming of an Cuban beach.
Extremely well balanced rum with just the right amount of spice, molasses, woodsy, and even a little licorish. With a few ice cubes the flavour opens up well. Only downside is a slight rubbery and sour finish - I would have liked a little sweet kick at the end. Yet overall very solid sipping rum
