Firlefanz sucht man vergebens.
Im Abgang recht schroff, etwas Karamell bleibt.
Ein handwerklich gut gemachter Ron und dennoch sehr auswechselbar und lieblos. In dieser Preisklasse gibt's Bessere, sorry. 7+
Beautiful clear amber in a glass.
In the nose strong wood notes with leather, tobacco and caramel tones.
In the palate deliciously balanced, some bitter caramel, some stiff leather and some hard wood form a solid body. One searches in vain for frippery.
In the aftertaste quite rugged, some caramel remains.
A handcrafted well made Ron and yet very interchangeable and loveless. In this price range there's better, sorry. 7+
Nic spicy nut on the nose. Palate is little bit of coca and wood. Really long finish.
Great for everything. Neat, rocks, mixer. Aroma is molasses. Taste is Carmel and molasses with some heat. While the taste is smooth, the Carmel, molasses, oak are not shy. So it makes a great rum and coke, dark and stormy, you name it. It's like the 7 just smoother, yet the Cuban profile shines none the less. Yummy, great buy. Make sure to buy the Cuban one.
Can't ask for more in a rum. The fact that it is priced decent is irrelevant, just a bonus.
Year in and out, this is the one that comes home with me from Cuba. Don't mix this.
i taste it on mine holidays this year in Cuba. For this price there a a lot of better rums. After more and more tasting rums mine decision is that Havana Club is a very expensive brand.
It is not bad, but not great either. Sherrywined, a bit more character due to higher %. Blended & filtered too much, looses character.
Purchased in Mexico for around $35 this seems like a great deal. I could breathe in the aroma all night. Slightly floral, and a little woody, with the promise of a classic flavor. Sure enough, no hint of added sweetness. Really smooth with just enough homage to it.s contents
Nose: a bit fruity, some hints of lime maybe
Palate: Certainly way better than the 3-Year, but still not very tasty: missed body, volume and aftertaste, but the bottle was already open for years. A bit harsh too.
Not the best choice to sip neat, but worked well in a Mojito.
I tried this with my friends who are not familiar with rum. They are whiskey-burbon funs and found that very tasty. I liked the color. The nose was complicated and the body a little bit dry. The aftertaste was strong. Very good served with one big ice cube. Dont mix it
Good on nose, but simple flavor and alcohol in aftertaste.
For me, is very similar to Havana Club 7....
This rum is totally overrated.
For a sip, I do not recommend.
Cherry oaky vanilla sweet nose. Gentle fistt sip and sharp vanilla smokey caramel aggressive strong body and aftertaste. Warm at end as well as a bit abvish
More a 7.5, A step up from the 7 year, which itself is a fine Rum
Hard to find in USA, got mine in Italy duty free.
This is a decent rum on its own. Most of the real Cubans are pretty dry (I prefer the Venezuelan stuff on the average, which I find a bit more balanced). If you don't want a rum to leave sugar on your teeth and still has a smokey, medium bodied feel with a touch of sweet, this is nice. For the price, though, I have started to avoid it. Better stuff for basically the same is available.
Much appreciated quality rum that does not hit the higher price ranges.
The smoothest Havana club I've had to date, but it seems as though it sacrifices deeper flavours which accent the cheaper versions. None of the citrus tones or powerful sweet notes found in standard issue Havana.
Very rich taste and flavor !
The maestro member of Havana Club has great sence and surely skills.
There should be one bottle in one house.
this one is like expected... no afterburn, no alcoholic palate. Well balanced with a great taste of tobacco and oak. Downside is the price. But if you get a good price, go for it and get one of these!
The Name is brighter than the bottle.
Aroma is subtle and different - praise to the creators.
The taste has a sweetness and a woody, dry, free of oil, without astringency. It makes sense to dilute with water, otherwise 45% alcohol will reduce the taste. The finish is medium-long.
Because of the purity of the intentions of the creators and raw materials, subsequent snifters will not load, neither the mind nor the body.
I got to taste this once and it was a while ago but what i remember from tasting this rum:
Very dry compared to most popular sippers.
Sharp ,aromas of leather, tobacco caramel and raisins and strong quite bitter oakiness, with a lot of heat.
Decent honest sipper without a load of added sugar.
Is slightly bitter for my taste but overall very enjoyable.
Also bit overpriced in my opinion.
It’s OK and more pricewhorty than the 15 yo. It tastes more alcohol than the 15yo, but have a much longer afterburn which I like.
So far after have tasted this one and the 15yo I think that Havana Club is overpriced. In the near future I will test the Union and see what I think about that.
Beskeds all this it has a great label and trademark, so it’s always nice to have at your rum shelf.

This rum is nearly impossible to find in Canada, so I make a habit of keeping a bottle in stock. Perhaps it’s the aesthetically appealing bottle, the golden amber pour, or the smooth taste on the tongue - but it doesn’t disappoint. The flavors blend well, offering a more traditional rum taste. The oaky Spice certainly outlasts the initial sweet note - yet both finish incredibly smooth. A bit pricey for what it offers, but then again, you can’t just pick a bottle whenever you’d like.
Birthday purchase, super smooth. I can highly recommend this one
