Appleton Estate Reserve Rum is a blend of 20 different rums of varying ages, the youngest of which is aged eight years in used Jack Daniels whiskey barrels.
This rum is produced in the Nassau Valley of Jamaica on the Appleton Estate from locally sourced sugar cane and limestone-filtered water.
La mejor relacion de precio calidad muy barato y bueno
smooth enjoy straight, or mixed
In the more up-market bars and restaurants that I have worked in
This is by base for good rum. Great price point and Appleton makes a great product. I try to find the reserve when I can. I'd like to fine more Appletons to try.
I always think of trips to Jamaica and love the spice of this rum in a tasty holiday wassail. It's also great with juice or alone. Always consistently bold and flavorful.
I have drank this often and find this blend to be on top of its game. Its really easy to drink and does not need much time to open up as similar rums in this segment.
An absolute bargain and better sipped than mixed.
A bit more body and texture than the V/X, so a nicely finished and reasonably good sipper, but still affordable enough to have as a (REALLY TASTY) mixer (for some REALLY NICE friends).
Any night I am relaxing by a fire in the fire pit in the yard, if there is a cigar in my hand there is Appleton in my glass. I use frozen soap stones to chill it, as I feel ice thins it to much and takes away form some of the notes. I love this rum.
Good smooth rum
Very nice in the nose. round nice taste, use it pure or mixed always a pleasure
I tend to favor Jamaican rum and this is fairly smooth with a nice flavor. I like it best at room temp with just a little water added. Appleton's better rums aren't available here in Ohio so I can't compare to others. It's definitely smoother than the VX.
A nice amber colour on the darker side. Notes of citrus and carmel. A step up from VX. Great over ice without mix so one can enjoy the complexity of flavour.
This is definitely a step up from the V/X for a nominal price increase.
Still a great um though! Can't beat the price for the quality you're getting off the shelf.
I rank this up there with Smith and Cross in quality but the two are different styles.
This Appleton is darker and smooth where as the S&C has a kick to it and is lighter.
I would use this more as a go to Jamaican and the S&C for special occasions.
Also tasted side by side with J Wray, defiantly like the more aged Appleton.
One of my favorite Jamaica rums. Love the color and aroma. Distinctive taste straight or mixed.
Sweet, but delicious, I want it poured over waffles.
This is the next best thing.
Shares a lot of good qualities with the 12 but a clear step down.
Nose: Nice and funky grass and fruit.
Feel: A bit too much up front bite but it makes up for it with the long tail of flavours you get with an Appleton.
Taste: A little wood, but mainly caramel and that grassy funk from before.
Presentation: You can't complain about much at this end of the market.
Price: 31 Canadian. Just spend the extra few dollars and get the 12.
Disclaimer: I love Jamaican rums... you may or may not. This is the middle of the road Appleton mass market offering and it is a middle of the road. Regardless, versatile and worthy in any cocktail calling for Jamaican rum; hell, you’ll blow your friends’ minds. No Smith & Cross tho...
Bien que moin von qu'un rhum vieilli, bon rhum rapport qualité prix
Nothing special until I made mojitos with it at a pool party. Wonderful for rum cocktails. Make yourself popular and throw some mint on this stuff.
Not as good as the aged high end rums but I got a bottle for 12 dollars. If your short on cash this is definitely the one you want. This is my new cheap rum sorry no need to ever buy bacardi again.
