Havana Club Añejo Reserva Rum is aged five to six years. This rum was not originally intended for public consumption but reserved for Don Navarro, the head master rum-maker for Havana Club.
This rum is one of eight produced by Havana Club in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba.
This rum has a light golden/amber colour with a bit of a rubbing alcohol smell (in the bottle).
It tastes sweet and floral/fruity, but way too harsh for me to sip straight.
It makes a really good Cuba Libre (R&C) - It's light yet has enough flavour to give it some taste.
A good mixing rum. Perfect with some lime juice and ice.
Not really convinced about this one. It is sippable but is more suited to mix.
If you like HC7 you'll get a bit more balanced rum for the same price or a bit less. It's not wonderful, but a (just a little bit) smoother than HC7 and not that intense flavours neither (but they are there still). Primary for coctails or as Cuba Libre for me. Not as smooth enough to be a sipping rum for me.
The best average rum for me.Not so special If you drink it straight up but mixed with Cola is good.Trusted.7/10.
Hope this becomes available in the United States soon. Too bad it will have to be renamed due to copyright issues. However this is a very good rum with some sweetness to it and a nice flavor. A little harsh and quite the immediate burn. Awesome in mixed drinks, especially frozen ones with a little 151 floater on top. Also makes wonderful rum punches on the fly.
Good rum to mix in your Mojito or Cuba Libre but not good enough for sipping.
Bought this in Italy, because it was very cheap and want to try another new rum for me. Comparable with Oakheart or Spiced CM, but this one is from a lower level.
Worst thing about this rum is it's been discontinued. Only bought as a spur of the moment buy & both glad I did & didn't. As soon as I tried it, it became my favourite rum along with the Appleton's 12, but at a more affordable price. Got that classic rum taste but it's smooth as silk. It's even so good it got my vodka & liqueur drinking sister into rums other than Malibu.
Smooth and mellow. Like an old friend, comfort booze.....
Not great for sipping, but great for rum and cokes.
Smooth round blend, nice sweets. Touch of sugar cane. Perfect balance
en super rom til din cola.
kan godt lide den for, den formår at få den dejlige fede rom smag igennem colaen.
men ikke en rom jeg ville nyde rent.
Ideal for cuba libre cocktails. absolutely not a sipping rum. Better than Havana Club Anejo Especial.
It works as a dark rum for cocktails. Not a sipping rum
Classical decent rum from Cuba, but nothing special...
drank it for the first time in 1980 havana. can drink it all the time now that i live in europe ;)
An excellent mixing rum for a party with friends.
In a box just behind in my bar stood this Rum.
A smooth Cuba Rum good for both drinking single and mix for Cuba libre
good rum to drink with a coke cuba libre as they call it
Was in Cuba and was drinking this in a bar because they didnt have the havana 7.
I didnt mind because this was really good. Not so sweet as the 7, but just as nice with cola, ice and lime =)
