Havana Club Añejo Reserva Rum is aged five to six years. This rum was not originally intended for public consumption but reserved for Don Navarro, the head master rum-maker for Havana Club.
This rum is one of eight produced by Havana Club in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba.
Nose: Pear/tobacco/wooden notes, some age
Palate: Strong and complex, yet smooth.
How to serve: Rocks, or Cuba Libre.
I had a few experiences with rums until my parents came back from Cuba with this bottle. I prefer tot drink it room teperature, non mixed, the flavor then realy opens after a few seconds, the first seconds are realy soft but rather less tasteless, then afterwards the bouquette opens up tot the variety of Wood fire and a little fruit. I love that affect
Every time I drink this I am amazed at how uniquely different it tastes from everything else. I love it and try to make it last as long as possible.... if anyone is going to Cuba can you bring me back a bottle?
This is a great rum that unfortunately you can't buy in the states. Excellent on the rocks, very smooth with a wonderful strong taste. I'll be singing the blues when my one bottle is gone!
I enjoyed the taste and smoothness of this rum. We purchased this rum over 7 years ago in Acabo Bahamas. We decided to consume it during my birth celebration this year. Its was a great selection.
The best mixer of all the Havana range. Had an xMas party and we had this, the 7, especial, ritual and barrel proof. The Reserva is the one the we all went back to and was finished off in no time. Crazy cheap in Cuba as well at about £4 a bottle. Not a great sipper which is why it probably scores low on here but there's nothing better than this with a splash of cola.
Smooth and mellow. Like an old friend, comfort booze.....
Was in Cuba and was drinking this in a bar because they didnt have the havana 7.
I didnt mind because this was really good. Not so sweet as the 7, but just as nice with cola, ice and lime =)
drank it for the first time in 1980 havana. can drink it all the time now that i live in europe ;)
Worst thing about this rum is it's been discontinued. Only bought as a spur of the moment buy & both glad I did & didn't. As soon as I tried it, it became my favourite rum along with the Appleton's 12, but at a more affordable price. Got that classic rum taste but it's smooth as silk. It's even so good it got my vodka & liqueur drinking sister into rums other than Malibu.
One of the best for everyday cocktails. Still enjoy it
Bought a bottle in the Domincan for $13, couldn't resist at that price. I was a bit sceptical at 1st considering the price, but this has to be one of my favourite mixing rums I own, just right
Ook weer een goede Havana. Ietwat scherp mag wat zoeter zijn wat mij betreft.
First tasted Havana Club in the Caymans and then later in Aruba. I like the strength of this rum. It tastes like a powerful Cuban rum with hints of caramel. I like it on the rocks, but it is great with cola as well.
Tento rum sem mel ve chvili, kdy sem byl na mol.Tudiz nemohu hodnotit:D
Hope this becomes available in the United States soon. Too bad it will have to be renamed due to copyright issues. However this is a very good rum with some sweetness to it and a nice flavor. A little harsh and quite the immediate burn. Awesome in mixed drinks, especially frozen ones with a little 151 floater on top. Also makes wonderful rum punches on the fly.
Tasted this recently and found it to be flavorful, slightly woody/dry, but a little harsh and thus the 8 rating although I almost rated this a 9. I enjoyed it more with just a little water added or on the rocks. Dispite the harshness, it's delicious...and I'm looking forward to the day when the embargo is lifted and Cuban rum will once again flow in the USA.
Tall glass, lots of fresh lime and Coke, add a big slug of this = Sublime!
A cherished part of my collection
I got a bottle of this in Canada while on vacation, came home and tried it in a couple of mixed drinks and on the rocks. For being a 5-6yr, it's not bad.
Una reserva única
I bought this on a criuse and did not drink until I came home. I transported it in some rum runners that I used on vacation and it may have picked up some extra flavors. It has a sweet fruitiness that I have never tasted in a non-flavored rum. I will have to pick another bottle up this summer to see if the flavor is true.
Good Price good taste. Perfect for for mixing and straight. This one and the 3 years old are the Beast for mixing R&Coke. Thanks Cuba !
The bottle I was served at the Tropicana Cabernet was the best I've ever had in the price range. The bottle I bought at a store my tour guide promised me was a government store (which she later admitted paid her for bringing in tourists) was the worst I had ever paid that much for.
