Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
Again a rum that I often use in cocktails, some classic and some maniacal creations. If you want a versatile rum then these lower cost Havana's are really 'go to' rums. They are also great learning tools on how subtle differences in flavour profile make a good deal of difference to a cocktail.
Rum with a little bit alcohol burn and spicy taste. Good for in the mix. I prefer this above the 7 years.
it's not one of my fvorites but it's resonable. Good price for value.
Interesting with lime juice.
Weak aroma of vanilla, alcohol, barrels, flowers, raisins.
The taste is not easy: alcohol softened, herbs, honey, barrel.
A little burning and bitterness, excessive sweetness.
It is drunk very much at ease.
This is a good mixer rum with some coke and lime. Bought my first bottle at duty free coming back from Mexico and wasn't disappointed. Better than other bottles that might cost $ 2 less. Cabinet keeper.
I actually slightly prefer this one over the 7 yr old Havana Club. This is a little more vibrant and playful and subtle. In the 7 yr old I find the flavours to be very condensed. Also: every bar in the world has this and it is always a good option when they have nothing else.
Se debe tomar con coca tiene sabor intenso buena relación calidad precio
I don't think I've tasted this rum straight, but I do enjoy it with some coke.
No es muy bueno, pero con cola o seven up puede pasar
Smooth nice late night rum get better the more you have good value for money
Certe pas le meilleur rhum à boire pure, on ne va pas découvrir des saveurs extraordinaire mais pour faire un Cuba libre sous un soleil d'été il est parfait
Is and excellent mix rum , expecially for the original Cuba Libre (Rum and Coke ) ....you may like others rum for this drink , but with this Rum you make the original .
Great choise for mixing, good balance, great value, classic presentation. Cuba libre there we go!
Denne rom gør det rigtig i cocktails. Cuba Libre med presset lime
I like this rum. This rum is good on ice or straight , you can mix it with cola or make coctails. Multipurposal rum as for me.
As with the Club7 this one demonstrates the high quality of the Havana line of rums, not bad straight but this one is likely the perfect match for cocktails or a Cuba Libre.
Not a lot of taste: some fresh taste but quite sharp ethanol, too dry
Pernot Ricard definitely did have a reason to re-launch this Rum in Germany (and Europe??) in a new design. It is the perfect Rum for a Cuba Libre, half-half with Rum and a squeezed Lemon slice on does carve out the characteristics of this product the best! One of the seldom not very dry Rums from Cuba.
Appears a little darker than it really is!
Just the right amount of sweetness for me , I can sip this with just ice but normally a very good mixer and good value as well , big step up from Havana 3 year.
A little different then the 7y.
A like it a bit better then 7y.
Still with cola for me.
Still clubbing drink.
Havana Club is a good general drinking rum - mixed cocktail.
Good cheap rum from Cuba. Last time got one in Varadero Airport duty-free shop for less then 10$.
Sehrguter rum wie bei dem 7 jährigem gut in cocktails oder on the Rocks.
Great with coke. Suitable for sipping. Good value for money. Paid €16,- for 70cl. 7.5/10
