Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

The bar at the hotel in Cuba was out of everything else so I got a glass of this and paired with a cigar. Not the best kinda hard to drink. I felt like it was just the same as the 3yr but carmel in color. It wasn’t smooth and was a difficult sipper.
Decente insieme al succo alla pera per serate allegre.
Nulla di più.
I veri rum sono altri...
This rum is meant for mixing and not to be sipped. Good for a rum and cola.
As a sipper it gives a weird impression of being a higher ABV. Maybe because of the taste - tropical fruits fermented in dirty socks.
Passes as a mixer.
guess as a last resource when there is not even water to drink... you could use it, but if you can stay away from it, do it!
Not a big fan of the taste of this rum. Tried it with coke and found it to be just acceptable. Definately nothing “especial” about it.
i like this rum, am not gonna drink it anymore but but the memories... starting rum good for mixing, average smell, sharp taste
For mixing only. Men fin smag og karakter. Ikke min kop te.
Un classique des rhums cubains, à boire de préférence en cocktail

Some oaky spicy notes.
"It’s very heavy with vanilla and the caramel and brown sugar notes are too much. The rum is quite smooth and not very rough."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
