Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

It has a nice sweet bitterness with a tobacco finish. It has the caramel colour without the taste. Good with Sprite.
Smooth balanced and enjoyable. Of the 4 bottles I brought back from Cuba, this was my favorite. I could never place the flavor though.
This rum is the best if you love a good cuba libre. I could drink this rum all night long with some ice - coke and lemon
Fine for drinking / sipping straight / neat, tho a bit harsh in aftertaste without ice. Truly pleasant on the rocks, however, with a soft vanilla sweetness shy of 'Captain' levels ... even if the 'Añejo Especial' - 'Special Aged' Havana Club is not extremely subtle or complex. But it is at a great value point, given modest price, and superb drinkability with an ice cube or two. - And don't forget, Ché Guevara's final gift from Fidel Castro on 22 March 1967, shortly before he was killed, was some Churchill-sized Cuban cigars and 3 bottles of Havana Club rum ... It's always fun to drink something that USA-Americans still can't legally enjoy : - )
It isn't the best rum you'll ever have, it isn't nearly the worst you can get. It's an overall nice rum for a really good price. It has some good tastes which I like in a cuban rum.
Please note that part of the reason I give it this a high rating is because of it's really good prices here, I've been able to get this around 15euros every time and for that price it's a good rum. Would it sell for 40-50 it wouldn't suddenly be a bad rum, but you would expect some more of it.
Vraiment bon, le goût vanillé est très appréciable, un rhum qui n'agresse pas la gorge, qui se boit bien :)
Nice and oaky with hints of vanilla and a little chocolate on the palate. Finishes smooth with a little heat and spice. Allspice, nutmeg and clove.
Se debe tomar con coca tiene sabor intenso buena relación calidad precio
Never tried the real stuff but this is good smooth rum.

Some oaky spicy notes.
"It’s very heavy with vanilla and the caramel and brown sugar notes are too much. The rum is quite smooth and not very rough."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
