Havana Club Añejo Especial is a blend of rums aged for up to five years produced from the fermented molasses of sugar cane harvested in Cuba. The molasses is combined with yeast and water, distilled using column stills, and aged in white oak barrels.
Havana Club was founded in 1878 by Jose Arechabala and later nationalized after the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

The best tasting gold rum for me. Lots of great memories in Havana.
The taste is common by now, the qualities are average at best, but pricewise is a hit.

Being retired a military medic, I have had rums from all around the world. Your rum has not got the harsh taste of molasses and can be enjoyed NEAT or with a little mix.
Price wise its a steal.

Pernot Ricard definitely did have a reason to re-launch this Rum in Germany (and Europe??) in a new design. It is the perfect Rum for a Cuba Libre, half-half with Rum and a squeezed Lemon slice on does carve out the characteristics of this product the best! One of the seldom not very dry Rums from Cuba.
Appears a little darker than it really is!
This is one of the greatest rums I have ever tasted. Mellow tast, beautiful oak aroma. One of the finest by far. Only available in Cuba.
I drank a bottle of this stuff and wandered around Havana one night several years ago. It was one of the best nights of my life. Smooth and great with Coke or on its own.
Tasted thanks to the Big Kahuna who shared his bottle with me. Rich dark gold in color. Signature earthy aroma of this distiller. Unlike any of the other HC offerings in that this has a fiercely intensive Cuban rum up front flavor with a quick dry patching finish. Woody astringency without the needles. Very innovative.

There are countless rums which one can rate as superior, and are, but none come to mind offering such great value for money.
