Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

Havana club 7-years is a classic, premium, commercial rum and I admit that it was the one that made me a rum lover. If you are a beginner you are going to like it or even love it, but when you 'll start exploring new rum tasted and qualities you will eventually demystify it. I still like its heavy tobacco- woody notes though.
Colour: caramel
Aroma: tobacco and woody.
Flavour: balanced.
Taste: Massive tobacco and woody taste accompanied by some strong alcoholic tones.
A great rum to start. Also, in the begining it will pose a useful base of comparison. What it misses is the sweet aftertaste. I prefer it in cocktails (it is indeed great in cocktails), as I do not enjoy sipping it in any way.
Tips: If you choose to sip it, accompany it with fried banana slices to balance its lack of sweetness and a medium-strong, preferably cuban, cigar.
This is a beauty.
A lot of people will be tending to underrate this rum, just because it's from a "mainstream" brand (people will Always do that, wich is silly), but that will be a mistake.
Yes, it is from a big brand and yes, it's very mainstream. Still that does not mean they can't make a good rum.
Because when you get this not knowing what you get, it will seduce you. Just let it happen, let yourself be seduced by this sexy rum and you will have a great night.
The nose is just amazing, one of the best in this prince range. The tast can't follow up on that great nose, but is still very good for such a rum. A bottle will not last long...
Neben dem Cola und für Cocktail üblichen 3jährigen geht hier schon mehr. Trinken ihn gern mit Kaffee und vieel Eis. (V1.0.)
Very nice aroma with a smooth beginning ands smooth finish with a nice burn in the middle. We might soon be able to get this product in the USA, and maybe Cuba will soon have Coke again but I put 2 and 2 together and Had a Cuba Libre with a Mexican Coke while vacationing on the gulf. Muy Bien ! BTW the real cane sugar Coca-Cola made a pleasant mixer far less syrupy than American Corn Syrup Coke. I believe I will only stock imported Coke on my bar from now on.
Auch bei mir hat es mit diesem Rum begonnen. Macht einen guten Cuba Libre.
Bit of a letdown, nothing Special. Definitely not a bad rum, but there are a lot of better rums out there for less money.

This rum is horrible! It's a tobacco flavored Bacardi. Send the cigars, keep the rum!
Woody with orange and floral note, tobacco an cinnamon/caramel finish.
Great as a Cuba Libre. For me too much smoky notes to enjoy just sippin, less you smoke a cigar with it to balance it all out!
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

While not a big fan of whisk(e)y and favouring a rum-cola over other kinds of mixes, the logical next step was to explore rums to enjoy neat. First stop: Havana Club 7 anos.
I'm no expert on palates and stuff, but compared to other rums (mostly used in mixes though) this Havana Club 7 Anos it brings less sweetness and way more flavour and a nice warmth. Personally, I'd rather enjoy it neat, as mixing it with cola seems like a bit of a waste of such a tasty rum. Apparently my wife and friends also seem to like it, as I quickly found myself in need for a 2nd bottle after the holidays.
Since this is my first neat rum I'll rate it with a 7 for now, maybe it will increase over time after trying other sipping rums.
