Cuba | Aged | 40% ABV

Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.

Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

I could play hopscotch with the chalk I taste when I drink this but since it's not a fruit flavoured rum it can't be lower than a 5.

Grundsätzlich ein soldier Rum und für besondere Cocktails geeignet. Zum Purtrinken ist er mir etwas zu scharf. Und der Preis ist deutlich zu hoch für das, was man bekommt. Man zahlt eben die Marke mit...

Over years my favorite until I started to compare with other rums. Now I know: it's good but there are better ones.

A nice, sweet rum with plenty of alcohol to go well with a Coke.
Double Havana and Coke is my go-to drink and has been for years.

Fell in love with this in Mexico while drinking Cuba libres. Much like the Bacardi Solera, it has a great taste when mixed with coke, but not medicinal. Very mellow flavor!

I picked this rum up several years ago as I wanted to give it a try, it had a rather acrid taste, tried it again recently at a friends place and came away with the same conclusion.

I personally am not sure how to drink it. Pure it's not really good tasting. To harsh and overpowering spiced. Mixed with coke i think the anejo especial is better tasting. The spicing overpowerd even the coke

This is the rum that the average-guy has the box and/or empty bottle on the shelf.
In Italy "Coca e Havana" (which is only with Havana7) is something like a recognized upgrade to a standard Cuba Libre (that should be made with white rum and lime juice, but don't investigate too much).
Widely available in every supermarket, i believe this is a good choice, i find it a nice on the rocks rum, good for an Old Fashioned twist and acceptable neat.
Don't be too hipster, this is a great classic that shoud stay in every liquor cabinet, unless you upgrade it with better similar (but less iconic) rums.
