Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.

This rum has very hard position in Havana family - It is in the middle between brilliant Selection de Maestros on one side and cheap but tasty Anejo Especial on the other one. So if you buy 7yo, you pay 50% more than for Anejo Especial, but you dont get 50% quality increase. Or, you pay 75% of Selection de Maestros price, but again, you dont get 75% of its quality. And this is the biggest problem of Havana 7yo. If you want quality, you go for Maestros. If you want cheap and tasty, you go for Anejo Especial. But its at least worth trying.

Bottle: I like this black design they made for 7yo. Its prettier than Anejo Especial even though its smaller.

Color: You might think that it will be dark rum, but thats wrong. The color is simillar to Anejo Especial.

Smell: It smells like leather and tobacco. Also some alcoholic smell. And maybe a bit of peat or turf.

Taste: Tasted on room temperature. In first try a lot of alcoholic taste, but after leaving my glass breathing for a minute, it became much better. Some tobacco taste, a lot of wood, some leather. I will give it a try on rocks.

Well, this rum is not bad, it is just the unwanted middle brother. for there are much better rums in its price category and both his closest siblings offers something more.

I drunk it for 3 weeks in Cuba. It's perfect to mix your cubata up (coke and lemon). I have tasted it pure but it's not my favourite rum. Havan doesn't seem to succeed in making a good low priced rum.

denne er kraftig i smak å har noen dominerende smaker som ikke passer min gane.
men jeg skal ta den fram senere å prøv å venne meg til den.

A go to Cuban rum, fairly standard mixed with coke or over ice. Decent value when yo don't want to break out the good stuff.

A good one to mix with coca cola but not for a sipper

Nothing fancy, only suitable for drinks. For price there are better alternatives.

If you do not like tabacco heavy tones you are not gonna like this one... good with coke though.

Ok so Im trying to separate this Rum from my many ibizian memories at Cafe Mambo watching the sunset or in Chelsea DeeJaying with friends. This is a great Rum with cola. you can taste it and it compliments it! I have tried it without on its own and find for me its a little sharp. its not the best and to be completely honest a little over priced for what it is but its a good party drink where you can look a little pretentious in a bar like you have a clue of what you drink (that was me once!)
