Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.
Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

One of my favorite ambers. Mellow, man mellow......
Smooth taste, nice to drink with a cigar. Gift from FoL
I received this as a gift and had to sample a shot just to see how it compared to other rums I have tasted. I has all of the good qualities of an agrico without being too harsh. It mixes well without dominating the drink and it is a joy to just sip. Frequently I use finger food to blunt some of the bitter or harsh qualities of a rum. They are not needed here. I would definitely buy this one if it were available here. It is not. It is a good solid 8 because it mixes well and it is good by itself. I gave it a 9 because it never stops being good all the way to the finish.
I try not avoid breaching £20 for mixing rums (Appleton's Estate Signature Blend is my go-to at that price point), but Havana Club 7 with coke really is a match made in heaven. The rich flavours hold up well against the treacly coke, unlike some other rums where all you really get is a generic 'rummy' taste coming through.
Although this was the "first sipping rum" produced by Havana Club, I would say it's only just smooth enough to sip neat. It's certainly rich and complex enough for me to want to drink it neat, but would benefit from being a bit smoother. Perhaps ice / water would mellow it out, but I like my rum neat and ever so slightly warm (heated subtly by the warmth of my hand cupped around the glass), or mixed in a rum & coke, so I haven't tried either.
I'm intrigued to try more expensive rums of this style to see how they hold up against the likes of Mount Gay XO.
Personaly my favorit, taste is smoky, caramel, vanilla and oak, on the sweet Great all-arrounder
Hands down top pick for rum & coke. Dry oaky taste makes it right at home in a glass by itself. I do not allow myself to run out!
Absolutely love this rum, my go to all the time, perfect for mixing n good enough to drink straight.
My go to.
Havana Club Añejo 7 Años has a dazzling and clear mahogany colour...

'caramel, cane sugar, and a bit of cinnamon character in the finish'

Their is a creamy/buttery vanilla like smell oak, dry tobacco and smokiness.
"It’s very hot, spicy and very bitter. Luckily the burn isn’t bad and very short. Subsequent sips are much smoother."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
