Havana Club 7-Year rum

Havana Club 7-Year

Cuba | Aged

Havana Club 7-Year Rum is distilled from fermented molasses and aged in charred white oak barrels for seven years.

Havana Club rum is still made in Cuba - where the company was founded by José Arechabala in 1878 and then nationalized in 1959 after the Cuban Revolution. Havana Club is now jointly owned by Pernod Ricard and the Cuban government.

An important preface is that this rum is available in Denmarkf for 22€ regularly - that's 26 $, so I'm not judging it from the rariti of the American market, in which case I'd probably rate it 5 ot 6. It's pretty good for a Cuba libre, maybe even Dark & Stormy or other drinks of low ABV. For a Cuba Libre, it is however EXCELLENT - the best I've had yet. I wouldn't use it for tiki or other other rum forwards drinks, but for a "base", it's very good for the money.

HC7 and Ice only doesn´t taste the best but for mixing it´s okay i wouldn´t recommend it... There are better rums for the price.

I’m not a big fan of Havana Club rums but this rum is good to drink with one cube of ice.

Really nice. Molasses forward flavor. Tastes like 'tapa de dulce'. Needs a little more age to smooth out, but such a great flavor.

This was the other half of my present from Cuba. I recall it being more molasses forward with a distinctly woody character. Quite good, and from what my fiance said, affordable.

This is a very affordable and easy to find dark rum. While it has a very sweet aroma of tropical notes (banana, leather, pineapple), this is not a sweet rum. Highly recommend it for beginners.

I don't think this an easy drinkable rum on rocks or even pure, but it represents a great alternative to the 3 years old havana when making long drinks.

One of the better aged rums that I've tasted. Very affordable too.

Nose is unmistakably Havana Club, white oak, tobacco, vanilla, the taste is sweet and spicy although there is no sugar added, again tobacco, oak and vanilla, the aftertaste is tobacco, leather, cocoa. Although it is noticeably more refined than Especial, there is still a bit of the alcohol burn, but nothing which would prevent me from sipping the rum with pleasure. It can be used also as a premium mixer, it stands out in Cuba Libre very nicely. Made in Cuba, not Puerto Rico.
